  1. I always find it hard to believe they that don't know if the engine is stuck. https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/d/moro-1938-buick-convertible-project/7691556149.html CAR IS LOCATED IN MORO OREGON I bought this car awhile ago out of an estate, thinking I would build a stock-looking street rod out of it, but I have since found a different car I want more. This is a very straight and solid project that was brought to the Northwest from Arizona and is NOT RUSTY. It still has the original chassis that has been re-painted and a restoration started a couple decades ago. All the trim seems to be intact as well as the spare tire covers. The top irons also look to be complete. I have never attempted to start the car or turn it over, it is a total project, but I don't think you could find a better car to start with. also comes with an extra re-chromed grille. I was not the one to dis-assemble the car in the first place, nor am I a Buick expert in any way. It is a 1938 Special Convertible with a rumble seat, and the optional dual side-mount spares. It has the straight 8 engine and a 3 speed manual $22,000 Please feel free to call me at 5o3 7o3 2eight7 four but NO TEXTS !!!!!!!!
  2. Looks really nice...must be close to top of the heap in this period... https://www.prewarcar.com/389220-1914-cadillac-roadster-model-30 Beautiful car. New paint. New clutch. Good top. Older interior but very usable. Runs and drives well. Optional wire wheels. Lots of legroom in this roadster. Fun to drive these powerful Cadillac's. Located in sunny Florida USA. Will store until you can arrange shipping. Phone: 207-889-0039 Email: wbcq@wbcq.com
  3. I think it will be a future collectible, but the jury is still out on whether or not it will be the new Pontiac Aztek. The original Tesla roadster dipped into affordable territory when the model S came out years ago but is now at about 130% of original MSRP.
  4. Here's the new ad, which sets a record for length! https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/d/palos-verdes-peninsula-rare-1934-desoto/7691200179.html email: 11015438f43d36edac3af9d90fbca8f2@sale.craigslist.org
  5. A '32 PB Plymouth is a great car and probably the ultimate 4 cylinder of the period, but this price is at least double what it should be. Once again, missing the original air cleaner! (more pics in ad) https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1932-plymouth-3-window.1304974/ 1932 Plymouth 3 window; has the original 4 cylinder, all gauges work as they should. Maybe one or two repaints over the years, I have the front bumper and mounts. Other spare parts in the trunk. Rust free car, that has not be chopped up at all. Newer vinyl top, original interior. Runs and drives.
  6. Not just four tires! Also included are "(4) beautiful Cloisonné Center Hubcaps with perfect centers with no chips, Beautiful rust free front fenders and hood with NICE used Cormorant Hood ornament"! Just repair or replace everything else and you'll have a beautiful car!
  7. All very true and thank you for your thorough daily searches of those dark corners! We do appreciate them! Given just the cost of paint alone, many cars we see are no longer economically restorable. Lucky for us, car people aren't always rational in their purchases. Also, although I'd guess half the Model A's in the world are now V8 powered, I've never seen a 29 Caddy with a small block.
  8. I wonder if the movie has a car chase scene? Could be really exciting (especially for the new driver)
  9. I have a story from the opposite end of the performance spectrum. In the late 70's and early 80's, I owned a glass shop in the small town of Truckee CA, located at 6100ft, just over Donner Pass on I-80 (7,000ft). The CHP had a station in town and we did all their work. Just before they got the Mustangs, they received a couple of Dodge K cars! There was an article in the local paper about how they not only couldn't catch up to speeders going over the summit, they couldn't even stay with them to clock them! It was also a hard transition to move from the front wheel drive "K" to the Mustang when there was snow on the ground (possible about 9 months of the year).
  10. Can you still get a Maaco job for $1,000? In the dim past I got a few low cost paint jobs where I did all prep before taking it to in and they did well. Use to be, they had some old guys who could really lay down enamel.
  11. My first car was a pretty nice Hillman convertible. It ran OK but had been sitting and needed a brake job. $50. A couple of years later I almost traded my 4 year old Porsche 912 ($50K today) for a Mercedes 300SL Convertible. (now over a million). One of my father's friends tried to sell him a '55 Porsche 550 Spyder for $3500. He drove to for a week. My mom nixed it (they are around 3 mil today).
  12. Seems fairly priced...why are so many air cleaners missing? https://modesto.craigslist.org/cto/d/modesto-41-dodge/7688792132.html For sale 1941dodge, running with overhauled flat six, fuiddrive manual transmission do not use due to health reasons. Time to let it go, if interested leave message. Don’t need help selling thank you email: 73a8673efeca31fe87584eb66f86d5d1@sale.craigslist.org
  13. I looked at the paint codes for 1931 Chevy. there was a yellow and an orange but the rest were pretty subdued. Amazingly, there were over 50 color codes listed! I used to get a company car every two years and I had some choices including color. I was always sorry to see so few choices and most were some shade of silver.
  14. I've heard that the stuff that swells rubber can be very helpful if you have an older automatic that is rarely driven. I've also heard that full synthetic motor oil with a zinc additive is the way to go.
  15. Too bad about the engine...that moves it to the dark side. If these body modifications were done in period by someone we'd heard of, we'd love it. I'm not a Packard person (except their aviation and racing work) but I think it looks good.
  16. As I said before don't doubt that it happened. By Click Bate, I mean an sensational story which may or may not reflect what's actually going on. The same dealer might want $20K for a new gasoline engine.
  17. I doubt many modern cars are going to be on the road when they are 50 years old, there are too many circuits, no matter whether it's gas or electric. I just looked at my local Craigslist and there were 220 Teslas for sale and about a third of them were over 100,000 miles. I sure they are not there yet, but don't think EVs are going to be much different than IC cars in ultimate longevity, but they will be much cheaper to operate.
  18. Amazing story, but that would mean you could never drive it! (more text in ad) https://goldcountry.craigslist.org/cto/d/copperopolis-1936-ford-window-coupe/7686517983.html Untouched by any modifications, this 5-window coupe is a car that looks great from any angle and also offers the excellent reliability for which Ford's V8 was known. This Ford 5 window coupe is one of the lowest mile 1936 Fords in existence, with just over 400 original miles! Yea, that is not a type error, documented history of the original miles. Out of the Bucky Austin collection, Bucky's Playhouse, Tacoma WA (209) 454-8477
  19. I think these stories are "click bate". Not to say that a dealer wouldn't quote something like that. There was a story a year ago about a similar charge that was actually paid to replace the battery in a Chevy Volt. In general battery replacement costs are similar but a little higher than an engine rebuild...which basically means by the time you need it, the car won't be worth enough to justify it. Also, I have heard of clever people replacing cells, not the whole battery. There is an ongoing education process around EVs and some are ahead of others.... I do want one but I think we are in the "pre-Model T" time period on EVs just now.
  20. I guess if this was done in the 20's or 30's it would be one thing, but now.... 21. Apparently bought by a dealer...now $7,500, still a fair price https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/d/north-highlands-1927-studebaker/7689333646.html All original with 54000 miles. 22. Still available, no price shown in the new ad...I loved the last line of the text: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/cto/d/farmersville-1938-chrysler-royal/7690271319.html 1938 Chrysler Royal 5 window club coupe. The price is in US $ The restoration started years ago and the Chrysler was taken to the shop, where it was completely dismantled down to the frame. The driveline was pulled and the frame and body were prepared for blasting, and paint. The engine was disassembled, rebuilt, and repainted. Meticulous care went into making sure everything was in order, even the lines and wiring in the engine bay were sorted through. All the engine accessories were also repainted to correctly match. Months later, the engine was finally reunited with the now bead blasted and painted frame and suspension components and the beautifully refinished Body adorned with Blue Turquoise paint . Several more months of interior work was completed, including refinished seats and new interior components, floor mats, door handles, dash knobs, and bright metalwork. The restoration was a lengthy one occupying hundreds of hours and at of a cost well over hundred thousand dollars. Hard to find this days wen the most business coupe's are gone. Comes with a original 1938 license plate a cover and luggage .Registration in my name with the FCH Historical services. Last picture is the, 38chrysler.com . Chrysler showroom on Broadway New York city were the Chrysler in november 1937 was delivered. Illness finally force sale call 214 991 5801 or e mail me i had some offers that brings tires in my eyes but i am over that now.
