  1. Read about what you are putting in your car people! Look at the ebay listing " MAXI-FRIG 12a, a HC-based refrigerant "! HC is hydrocarbon witch is flammable! R134a is NOT flammable and the kit is cheaper. Just be informed. http://www.aa1car.com/library/flammable_refrigerants.htm
  2. Is that so??? https://www.pepboys.com/product/details/9077526/00745 What you bought was probably the R12 equivalent(12A). Real R12 is not produced anymore and the prices keep going up because of it.
  3. Lube the mechanism with liquid wrench(or equivalent) then work it manually as if the hood is closing/opening. White lithium grease is not a penetrant so the mechanism is still sticking. I bought my TC from a ebay auction and had the same problem. The hood would not open when i went to look at it. After i got it home and did the above it works now.
  4. With 200K i think you have other issues along with it. I have 3 turbo cars and all of them needed the turbo rebuilt or replaced( all under 100K). The seals leak oil in the exhaust and cause smoke. With that many miles it's time to pull the head and turbo and inspect thoroughly The turbo in my TC was in the worse shape, The impeller was hitting the housing and it only has 89K.
  5. I happen to be looking around on craigs list and found someone selling a blue TC. It was repainted but i think they should have offered it as a color option. What do think? https://newyork.craigslist.org/wch/cto/6172252661.html
  6. You really need to do some reading on the ac systems on older cars. Back then R12(refrigerant) was used, It's no longer produced and what's out there is $$$. Best bet is to convert it to R134. Hard to offer help with vague info. There are a lot of things that can cause the ac not to produce cold air.
  7. You can use XTC speaker protectors for the door speakers. They will keep it free from water just make sure it doesn't contact the window/mechanism. They come in all shapes/sizes.
  8. Does the TC have the same set up as all other mopars of the era? I have used the adapter on all mine just not sure if the TC is the same. If so you will need it. http://www.scosche.com/84-chy-pwr-spk-oe-radio
  9. The BF Goodrich radial TA is in the history books as one(if not the) best looking tire on any car. I plan on going with these when i decide on rims.
  10. I did this conversion on my 1990 truck years ago and was pleased with the result. Since then i did some research on the subject. For best results you need to remove as much as the old oil as possible out of the system. The r12 oil is not compatible with the r134 refrigerant. Definitely replace the receiver/drier! The compressor is up to you depending on what kind of performance you want. If you live in an extremely hot climate then yes replace it. The r134 works at higher pressures then the r12 so a 134 compressor will result in colder air. It may be a good idea to replace the hoses also, nearly 30 year old hoses and higher working pressures may result in leaks. You can do this at home if you are handy and have some no how. You will need to evacuate the system so if you don't have the things necessary to do this take it to someone to have it filled.
  11. Is this the outer glass(in you hand) or some sort of clear plastic laminate between the two pieces of glass? Most of the TC's i see the port hole window shows signs of delaminating around the edges. Mine is not to bad but it's there and if it can be repaired with out replacing that would be awesome.
  12. Sounds like the air compressor is taking to long to generate air..
  13. I wouldn't consider it a benefit. I'd rather deal with the heat. You have "dry heat" there where here we have "moist heat". Still not a benefit. I can always work with a fan blowing on me but can't work when your hands are frozen.
  14. We go up to a whopping 31 degrees today here in Jersey. And a high of 34 tomorrow. Had snow yesterday also. No spring here, Well at least on the weekends. Guess i have to wail till May to work on my TC.
  15. What are you trying to achieve? Flow matched is good but a different injector all together may be better.
  16. Use loctite! http://henkeladhesivesna.com/blog/the-difference-between-red-blue-green-and-purple-threadlockers/
  17. I would love to but i live on the opposite side of the county.
  18. You can look up any seal by just having the id and od sizes. http://www2.chicago-rawhide.com/popup_parts_lookup_457010.htm
  19. Anybody using larger/wider rims?
  20. 8V how about a V8? I'm a newbie here but by no means new to anything mopar. I have a garage full of them including a 88 Le baron convertible and a 86 Daytona turbo Z. I bought the V8 conversion kit that was available from mopar performance years ago with hopes to use it on one of my turbo cars. Since then i seen a lot of V8 conversions done to Daytonas and Le barons but no TC's. I know some of you may cringe of the thought but face it you will not see a TC cross the Barrett Jackson block and bring six figures. And i am not advocating doing this to a pristine TC either. The one i bought is in need of rescuing and in the future may be a candidate for a V8 RWD conversion. As far as i am concerned the factory should have offered V8's in all these cars but at the time it was not feasible. Thoughts? On a side note i was wondering if any of you are using the mopar performance turbo 2 computers on your TC? I'm not sure if they will work on the TC's but don't think they are wired any different then the other turbo 2 cars. Forgive me if these subjects have been brought up in earlier posts but i'm still looking through them.
  21. Actually i seen it before i even knew about this site. Most of them i see on craigs list, A lot of people stopped using ebay to sell their cars. But it's always good to the spread the word about cars for sale if someone is interested.
  22. I am the winner of the auction! So now i can become a member here. I have been looking around for a TC for some time. It needs work but what 28 year old car that has been neglected doesn't. I'm glad to save it and bring it back to life. I will be starting a thread about this soon. Seems this pic was from one of the previous owners.
