  2. Wow, whoops, I just kept my fingers crossed. (that's what the owner says in the video)
  3. What type of transmission does this one have? Cord pre-selector?
  4. Title of this thread is missing an "e" in "Madame."
  5. http://www.newcadillacdatabase.org/static/CDB/Dbas_txt/DRM28-29.HTM Fleetwood (USA) The first Cadillacs to be designated Madame X were built on the 140-inch wheel base chassis of the Series 341-B (1929) with engine #336340 (shipped on May 5, 1929) and #337668 (shipped on May 29, 1929). A copy of the factory record sheets for both cars still exist [the record for #337668 was published in SS, 2/96, p.4]. The latter car was a special order for Alfred P. Sloan Jr. The body colors of both units was Madeira maroon, code #20624, with black chassis, fenders and upper body molding; they had a roof covering of high grade long grain shiny black landau leather; the record does not show that they had a folding roof over the rear seat passengers (landaulette styling), although that appears obvious from the photo; the upholstery was done in Wiese pattern/sample #3021. Among other special features were a chrome-plated trunk rack, window frames and wheel spokes [six-wheel job with fender wells); the earlier of the two cars had the Buffalo wire wheels with 7.00/20" tires, whereas the later one had 7.00/18" tires which were not standard on Cadillac cars until 1931. The interior hardware was the standard Fleetwood issue but tinted to match the Madeira maroon body color and then chrome finished [information provided in part by Jim Schild of St. Louis, MO]. So #336340 had 20 inch wheels, others had 18 inch
  6. http://www.newcadillacdatabase.org/static/CDB/Dbas_txt/V6fl4100.htm Are you basing that on this link? I noticed the caption under that picture, left some uncertainty. Chassis #336340 or #337668 ... or neither of these? This one has hood louvers typical of 1930 Cadillac & LaSalle cars

  9. In case this helps, there are motorcycle pistons in that diameter. That BMW piston is domed, and the distance from the pin to the top looks large. Maybe even 2-stroke pistons could be a possibility, I don't know? http://www.amazon.com/WSM-Piston-Kit-Oversize-010-826-04K/dp/B000GTT8U8 This pair is for a Yamaha Jet Ski actually. They are 84.25mm, which is 84mm plus first overbore. Wsm 010-824-04pk piston platinum yam 1300r 84.25mm (010-824-04PK)
  10. Most of California has hwy 1, the 101 fwy, and the I-5 fwy. The hwy 1 and 101 converge in Leggett. Up further at Eureka the 101 becomes the hwy that follows the coast.
  11. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1940-buick-special-3/ Here's an auction that may be interesting to watch. It has 3 more days to go. 4 hours left, bid to $3,200
  12. Where you live has much to do with it. When I lived in Southern California, both Orange County and Los Angeles County driving had no joy in it. All flat, crowded 4 lane boulevards and freeways. I did enjoy going places, like a tourist, looking around Hollywood. But there was no way to have a nice drive, unless you would really get out of it. In northern California roads through the hills are easily accessible.
  13. Up the coast on HWY 1, Marin County, Stinson Beach, then North to Bodega Bay, eat in Occidental at the Union Hotel, which is just a bit inland, then north some more on HWY 1, see Fort Ross, and the town of Gualalla.
  14. This forum is difficult to use. If I want to search the photo Gallery for pictures uploaded by "DLynskey" I don't even know how to do it.
  15. The vehicle is supposedly located in Santa Rosa, CA, my town; though I find that hard to believe.
  16. Of course it could be a scam. That should go without saying.

  18. Norway is a very wealthy country due to oil revenue. Offshore drilling for one. Therefore they can afford to ban gas powered vehicles and subsidize electric cars.

  22. I don't personally like them but they are very unique, very Hollywood. If you were a 50's movie star you might like to be seen in one.
