  1. Could be a bad dash ground causing the flashing. Tom T.
  2. Some years back there was a person named Joe who did this swap. Just like you he had both a '66 & a '67. The 430 was actually blown up where it could not be salvaged/repaired. Since he had both it was just a matter of swapping out the needed components. Everything transferred over with no problems. IF I remember correctly he went by "Nailhead in a '67". Tom T.
  3. Jim, You will be surprised at the wiring differences between '63 & '64 Tom T.
  4. AND it seals better/easier. Tom T.
  5. Unless the gas pedal is depressed more than 3/4 of the way the converter stays in the "Low Stall" position. Tom T.
  6. Most ALL of this junk is made in China. Hard to get away from. Tom T.
  7. Rafz66riv, Check the adjustment on the pushrod between the master & the booster "Pin" sticking out. They make a tool to check this. IF it were myself I would pull back the master & turn the screw in one turn to see where that brings you. Who knows it may just solve the problem you are having. Probably take you 10-15 minutes or so. No need to remove or loosen any brake lines, just pull the master back far enough to make the adjustment. Tom T.
  8. I had shown Bob my Original dash pad from my '64 Riv. & have 1st. hand knowledge of such. Tom T.
  9. No, just the switch pitch in the torque converter. May feel like a kickdown but is just the changing of the blades in the converter "Switching Pitch".. Tom T.
  10. Even though it's not showing signs of wear I would think about replacing it anyway. IF you wait then you will also have to pull the pan to get the broken pieces out. Tom T.
  11. I just get a screwdriver & twist it into the tags & break them off. It's not as if your going to reuse the cable or the fastening system. Tom T.
  12. No new replacement gears for the Buick 9 3/8ths. rears ONLY used. Tom T.
  13. How much will it save you in the end IF & WHEN it comes time to use it. Tom T.
  14. Unfortunately the Spring clamps don't work for the Chinese hose being made today. The cloth re-enforcing internally is MUCH less & the hose rubber is actually thinner. You really need the Corbin style clamps for the heater hoses & by-pass if you have one. Tom T.
  15. Do a search on V8Buick.com Best part it's free to join. Jeff, Yardley, has a full write-up of the problems he had with his '69. Part numbers, where to buy, from which vehicle it's from, etc. Tom T.
  16. Aaron, Sounds to me since you are buying stuff from Tom M. already maybe he should just supply everything you need instead of dealing with various others. Again, just my thoughts. Let me know. Tom T.
  17. As far as I'm concerned Poly is better in this instance. There is little to no flex with Poly & gives the front suspension a little needed rigidity. You ever look at how much the strut rod/wheel assembly moves with harder than normal braking going forward or back??? Poly takes up this slack & does not add anything to the ride & handling & won't squeak because there is no actual articulation of the joint. I modify the inner bushing to help give a more positive caster reading which helps tremendously in the steering wheel returning to center better without help. Is more resistant to cross winds. Tracks down the road better/straighter as now the car is being steered forward by the front wheels rather than be driven to some extent by the rear alignment & other positive attributes. You want as much positive caster as can be had. Even 6*-8* would be more ideal but most will be restricted to +2*- +4* & is a far cry better than anything negative. Just my thoughts & experience speaking. As far as end links go in your situation use stock length links. IF you use poly links, even though they may come with locking nuts, you would want to double nut them as the locking nuts have a tendency to loosen & you lose the link on that side. In my situation, drag racing, I want as little binding as possible restricting front end articulation needed to get weight transfer to the rear tires Tom T.
  18. I've got a pedal assembly from a '64 which is the same but has the hook-up for the electric brake light switch on the pedal assembly which I will include plus the clips & ALL that's nec. to install. Much better set-up with the switch mounted inside instead of outside & no need to worry about hydraulic pressure. Tom T.
  19. Rather have that than an over heating/running hotter than normal engine. Too much heat CAN do loads of internal damage. Just my thoughts. Tom T.
  20. Ron, No problem on an invoice as I will use an old invoice from my shop to be included. Of course the address will not match my now address. They will be covered in the vinyl & padding they came with originally & DO have a power window switch in them which I will leave because there is a metal part the switch presses/goes into. I will have to remove them to access the condition. If they are too bad/rusty I won't sell them in very bad condition. The vehicle they are being removed from only has 52K miles on it BUT it's been sitting outside covered for 30+ years. Same with the lenses, if they are too discolored, again, I will not sell them. But I won't know this until I look when I go to my garage/lot which is 35+ miles away. Tom T.
  21. I also think the '65 should have the '63-'64 side scoops. Looks to "Slab" sided without them & nothing to cut down on the sheer mass/length to the eye of the quarter. That custom I also agree about the rear valance. Too large & looks out of place without matching the dimensions of the whole rear end treatment in general. Maybe larger taillights as mentioned but it still doesn't address the size of the valance. I also believe the "Riviera" emblems should be on the fenders. Undecided about the truck lid since it's off to one side to me it looks lopsided. but to each his own. Also I feel it would accentuate the lines of the car better & break-up the "Slab" sideisness with the wheel opening mouldings & stainless trim following the body lines like original. I like on my '64 & also '65 where it only says Riviera without Buick shown anywhere. People ask MANY times "I've never seen a Riviera, who makes it???" When I say Buick they are mostly totally surprised & say "I had no clue". Tom T.
