  1. They leave their tracks behind: https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?43114-Railroad-Track-Inspection-Cars-(Stude-s-and-Others) A rare scale model piece is the Lionel Trains 1958 Desoto station wagon inspection car. (I've never seen one in person, but they say its not as well detailed as it should be, and does not match the level of their train sets.) Craig
  2. As I recall, the old Mobilgas Economy Runs (later Pure Oil)were also scored by ton-mpg, which as later modified as well. A 1951 Lincoln won the award that year which went by the ton-mpg, and later, after the rules were changed, 6-cylinder/OD car cars including Studebaker Champions logically won. Craig
  3. Yes, the hobby definitely includes Public Transportation vehicles, be it a city transit bus, inter-city highway bus, or a school bus. Here is an ex-Edmonton Transit 1949 CCF Brill: https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?57746-Orphan-of-the-Day-12-31-1949-CCF-Brill-C-36 1937 Twin Coach: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?47035-Orphan-of-the-Day-12-17-1937-Twin-Coach And a 1911 Packard 'mountain wagon' here: https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?30461-Packard-truck Craig
  4. This must be the car that was in Automobile Quarterly in the article on 1928-'33 Studebaker Presidents. I believe this car is the same one that has a Northstar V8 under the hood now. One would never know it, unless you heard it running. Craig
  5. Don't forget TRUCKS as seen in Post 28 here.-----------------> https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?77208-Mutts-let-s-see-em! Craig
  6. Josephine the Plumber might have something to say about that, even though she drove a Comet!! Craig
  7. Okay, thanks. 5746 Sunset Blvd in LA as shown in this link below must have been a selling dealer; not a West Coast distributor. Craig
  8. Such a shame the Hostetler Collection of Hudson-Essex-Terraplane cars & trucks didn't end up in a building of its own at Gilmore!!!!! Craig
  9. The 1939 Horch 930S beat the Cadillac with a sink featuring hot & cold water by 17 years! https://jalopnik.com/the-ultimate-in-luxury-is-a-fender-sink-1610401707 Craig
  10. Thanks for the history lesson. How many 540K were sold new in North America in those years? I know there was a Mercedes Benz distributor in New York City and Los Angeles at the time, so the must have moved a small number of them. Were any delivered to Canada? Craig
  11. Our local chapter of the Studebaker DRIVERS Club tries to have driving tours in the summer months in lieu of formal monthly meetings, so we don't become just the 'Studebaker Diners Club'. Craig
  12. No ugly 5-mph bumpers to be seen on any of the cars to disgrace the photo. Definitely pre-1973. Craig
  13. There is also a nice, young gentleman who is really enthusiastic about Studebakers: https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?111621-More-excellent-Studebaker-promotion! Craig
  14. Quite a bit of rust-through on that Studebaker, and a very rough interior, which makes it a VERY ambitious restoration project, (or even as a rod project.) I know they are rare enough, but economically, it makes a good parts car. Craig
  15. Thank you for the history lesson. Did these bodies that were shipped from Flint to Oshawa come complete with interior? Very often there was a 'Canadian Content' incentive in place for US-built cars that were assembled in Canada where local content would reduce import duties, or sometimes eliminate them entirely if there was enough 'Can-Con'. The interior was very often an area one finds Canadian-sourced materials (sometimes with different patterns and levels of equipment from US) on Canadian-assembled vehicles. The British publication, Classic American did a writeup on a 1938 Buick not long ago, which was sold new in the UK with rhd. I'll have to go back and review it to see what finish was on the dash. Craig
  16. That would work today, with all these new narrow lot houses being built and high-density/high-end condominiums being built in city downtowns that are going through gentrification. Craig
  17. Thanks for posting the photo of that radio dial. I was wondering what brand of radio was factory installed in this 1931 Studebaker Four Seasons Roadster: Craig
  18. I really appreciate your comments which I have no doubt in my mind are 100% accurate for Flint production. I suspect this RHD car may have come from the McLaughlin-Buick plant in Oshawa, especially if it was destined for the UK. Now I don't proclaim to know all the differences between Buicks and McLaughlin-Buicks coming from the separate plants, if there are any, but it is often the case there will be some differences including trim parts being finished differently. Craig
  19. One also had to upgrade the generator to accommodate the extra battery drain from the radio. I believe Studebaker recommended an HD generator in their literature when a radio was installed. Craig
  20. Not sure if you are on Facebook, but there is currently an interesting thread on "Studebaker Addicts" regarding a 1923 Speedster model. Someone did post a vintage ad of a Speedster in that thread. Craig
  21. Studebaker offered them as an option for 1940 & 1941: https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?44175-Studebaker-musical-horns-for-real Craig
  22. I posted a photo of a '32 St. Regis here---> https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?83228-Who-all-is-going-to-Can-Am-Pacific-Northwest-Zone-meet-in-Post-Falls-Idaho Craig
  23. I had a 1974 Dodge Dart with a slant six from 1986 - 1988 as my winter beater. It was a putty color base level model with all of three options, Torquflite automatic, AM radio, and the "light package" which included those fender-top turnsignal indicators. I agree, it was very easy to work on. I paid $300 for it, when I first got it, and sold it for $250 two years later. Craig
  24. Ya think the passenger in that car was testing out the Acme Instant Put-It-To-Sleep Gun on it? Craig
  25. Did all the 16 FS cassette tapes come with the car? Craig
