  1. It is harder to find than I thought. Is there any Buick/Olds windscreen that interchanges with Cadillac for that year of '48/'49? Thanks a lot.
  2. Absolutely love it! The 36 grill is really nice. Grey is a good color for it. A similar sport coupe was for sale recently in California.
  3. David, i couldn't agree more. And when the engine is running for the first time or you take it out for a spin, this is so rewarding! Changing its status from giant paper weight to a car. Thats why i never buy a ready to drive car.
  4. Hi John, thanks for sharing your experience! It is similar with my 53. With the 49 i ment something different It is not noisy when changing into reverse, but when the car is at an obstacle and cannot move freely. I had a too high bump from street to sidewalk and tried to accelerate to make it over this hurdle. And then it happened. I just tried again. When the surface is flat, it drives back without issues. Just made another testdrive. Same place, same terrible noise again. But it looks like it is still driveable. That is a big relief. Thanks for commenting, John. You always try to help. Appreciate that.
  5. All mounts, engine and transmission, were changed before. You mean it was possibly not fully in reverse?
  6. Hi all, My just finished again 49 Roadmaster Riviera gives me some headache. First starting was hard, and the carburetor was spitting and fuel starving, installed an electric fuel pump to tackle that. Today it was hardly possible to accelerate, hard starting again and then it happened, i wanted to drive in reverse into my garage and the dynaflow made a terrible clunky noise. I had to overcome a small road bump and had to press the paddle harder than on an even surface. Engine still fine. Forward was still okay, but the noise on reverse was kind of reproducible. Very much worrying me. The battery was dead then and i just pushed the car back. I really fear there is some mechanical damage. Any idea what might have happened? Very frustrating. Thanks a lot! 7. I bought a 1950 Cadillac emblem from the new owner years back. Honestly, I wasn't happy with the result at all. Due to the fact that I was collecting a number of parts in the US before i got them shipped over to me, I missed the deadline to complain. Otherwise i would have send it back. There were a number of bigger bubbles in the plastic on the lower end of the emblem. Very obvious. If I remember tonight, I post a picture. Then everybody can judge on his own. Just added it. Address was Grand River, Ohio.
  8. There is another one for sale in the Netherlands. Saw it in person. Very nice design. Around 40.000 Eur, if I remember correctly. https://www.stolzeclassiccars.nl/aanbod/4534/ford-comet-comete/
  9. If it would be a fastback it would be gone already. This body style is highly unattractive to me and the color inside out totally boring, vinyl seats - ughhh. This car needs a total make over, a flashy paint job, purple or plumb or so, to make it a little more glitzy and spectacular. My 2 cents.
  10. The company I am working for is currently laying off 10% of its work force. I know people dear to me that have to go. This is a tough time in my work career. Me and my team - we are not affected, yet. At least not now. My new boss is a pain in the butt. Drives me crazy every second day. Winter is close and 5 months of bad weather are ahead. I was sitting with one of the ladies of my team in the office and we were just done with a meeting with our big boss, both of us a little annoid again, to say the least, when she said, Hans, yesterday evening I had to buy an expensive hand bag and I replied don't worry, I just bought an expensive basket case of old car. We had a good laugh. Obviously we had to do ourselves something good to chear us up for the time to come. It will not make us broke. At least not her. I hope. 😁 This hobby gives me so much joy. I know so many people that have no hobby and they are suffering from that. I feel blessed that I found something that I have passion for. Money in the bank does not give me goosebumps. My cars do.
  11. That's a cool car, badly presented and neglected. Two hours of elbow grease and the engine compartment would look differently. Wonder how the interior looks like.
  12. What happened since January 2020. I worked on the car, repaired little things like the hydrolectric system, replaced a broken quarter window, took care of the electrics etc. And then in July 2021 my garage and the car was flooded. Fully! I refurbished everything on this car. In the last weeks I installed a brand new red leather interior and went out for a spin, more than 3 years after the purchase. I am incredibly happy that I was able to save this car. It's alive, it's even loosing dynaflow transmission fluid πŸ˜„. I inserted the pics multiple times. Dont understand why they are upside down. Sorry.
  13. Hi guys, Looking for driver quality hubcaps and other parts for my project 1948 ser. 62 coupe. Thanks a lot. Best, Hans
  14. This thing is really really cool. Like a traveler through time. The roof rack, the wooden board in the trunk, the interior, its unbelievable. Should be bought by somebody where these things originally drove. To restore would be a crime.
