  1. Great little car! Even with a sun roof. Good color and seats!
  2. My 56 CdV is a great car. These automobiles have such a presence and the engines plenty of juice. The design of the headlamps built into the fenders is just amazing, even nearly 70 years after simply breathtaking.
  3. 30 years stored in a barn, always amazing to me. Very attractive colors and good description of the condition. That's already rare enough. But I guess people want to get the hemi engine and not this. Price seems to be a good starting point. Finseeker - great find! 👍
  4. From Wikipedia: "He collects vintage cars, especially American marques, in both Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Rome. His 21-acre facility in Allentown houses 125 cars in seven warehouses.[4] He has 85 or more cars in Rome, including the faster models, and flies them to Allentown when they need repairs.[12] His favourite marque is Buick and he has many from 1940 and 1941, coincidentally the year he was born." He flies them to Allentown. This is so damn cool.
  5. Only see the last two replies now, sorry. I was too busy at work the last two months to tackle this problem. The car is now in winter storage in a quite far away garage. Currently changing the exhaust front to rear on my 47 Super sedanet in my little workshop. When it's done, I will change cars again.... Hope you had a merry Xmas, too!! Happy New Year!
  6. I really like the for sale car and its color combination although it looks a little clumsy. The way they wrapped the c column around the body is quite unique. Love that part. Interior looks still good. But overall the poor car looks a bit neglected as already mentioned. Why putting white wall tires on it, doesn't make it quicker, just funny. 1 or 2 grand less and it finds a buyer easily.
  7. Wayne, das freut mich sehr. You made me smile, thank you. You seem to be a real gentleman. About the devide, what did I read recently on facebook? Yes, on facebook: "The purpose of propaganda is to make one set of people forget that other sets of people are human." That says it all. No more politics... .
  8. Audi started its galvanization (in German "Vollverzinkung") in 1985. You got yours too early. AC wasnt common in Germany until the 80s or even 90s, too. I got my first car with AC in 2001. My Audi TT which I still use as my normal car. Just passed the 250.000 km mark. We are a small country.... But this 100LS looks quite stylish.
  9. Wayne, allow me to say, I couldn't explain it any better how it is pronounced right! You are so right, everything is connected, we are just one world.
  10. Nice garage art. You mean it will never run again, too far gone? I thought these are with the V16's Cadillacs holy grail. But I am so far away from this era....
  11. 4500 USD sounds damn cheap to me for a V12 of that vintage or am I missing something?
  12. You are very much right. Thanks for adding. All exceptional people.
  13. Was this paint combination available from the factory? It doesn't look right to me. The rust where it peels off looks very original though. Not my colors....
  14. Great pictures! Thanks for posting. Hudsons and Borgwards, why not? Both car brands with a very distinctive style. Founded late by individuals.
  15. The radio in mine is a Blaupunkt Frankfurt, I think. Only works occasionally. 🤣 Here these cars go for 30 to 60 grand when sorted. For 13 you can only get a rust bowl. And this car looks really nice. Still with a useable interior, unheard of. Still good wood applications on the inner doors. This car must have been treasured all its life. Quite fascinating.
  16. His name means in German "listen!". He started building cars in 1899 in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. When he left the company that had his name, he tried to get the rights back to use his own name for a new car company. He lost the court case and the son of a business associate suggested the latin word "Audi" instead with the same meaning - listen! It is the imperative form of the latin verb "audire". So he founded Audi in 1910, but already left the company in the 20s. Horch, Audi, DKW and Wanderer formed in 1932 Auto-Union. Thats why Audi's grill crest nowadays consists of 4 rings, to honor the previous companies. - Who can say from himself to have founded two car brands? What a guy.
  17. Unbelievable that something like this is still out there. A few restored ones are for sale in Germany. Between EUR 500.000 and 1.100.000. I saw one for sale in Cologne at the Motorworld facility a few months back. Breathtakingly beautiful. Another one in Duesseldorf. Simply amazing.
  18. I am alway tempted to make a statement here, too, but usually I resist. The reasoning is, I already have too many cars and I have a huge problem selling. So finding more here that I like will make my mental problem worse! Fastback coupes of the 40s and early 50s, pleaaaaase! A Pontiac Streamliner 1942 to 1948 and a 1949 Buick Roadmaster sedanet. That is all I wish for. Hey, it's Xmas time!
  19. Price is very fair for such a boat, I think. Rust issues were repaired, seems to be ready to be driven. Missing rocker panel molding and Cadillac scripts look like solvable issues. The guy buying this is going to have huge fun.
  20. I am a big fan of the color combo white roof and light blue body as my 56 cdv looks like that. On every meet the car is the star, although not restored, just plane original. All blue is a bit too much though. Interior does not seem to be correct as stated in the ad. These cars have everything, style, endless torque, power everything, front seats, windows, antenna, autronic eye. When you drive out the antenna, you believe it never stops. Mine has two floor mounted switches. One to change high and low beam, very common, the other one starts the radio channel search. Just amazing. The trunk is enormous. You can through a bicycle in it. These cars define American opulence of the 50s for me. If you want to be seen, that is the car. Pictures don't do these cars justice. They always look not to well proportioned and a little clumsy. In reality these are fantastic looking cars with an aura hard to beat. Girls love them, no matter what age. It's a Cadillac.
  21. If there is anybody interested in this car, the maintenance parts are all available in Germany and you do not need to break the bank. Only things really difficult to get are replacement fenders. Of course there is a Borgward forum where people can exchange their experiences, parts, etc. Dont worry, mechanics are not difficult to sort. The engine is peppy and good for 120 km/h all day long, 150 km/h max. Four gears, column shift. I am not associated to the car!!!!!
  22. That's mine. The bigger rhombus in the middle of the grill gives it a more defined front and the bumper guards ad more definition. They most often came in two colors. Red and white being the nicest (imho). Borg Warner sued Borgward at some time as the rhombus split the brand name on the hood into "Borg" and "ward" and they deemed it too similar. The model years 59 to 61 then had only the small rhombus as in the car advertised, leaving the brand name intact. All model years combined less than 10.000 cars were built compared to 200.000 sedans. Here in Germany this car belongs to the top 3 cars of the 50s. Some time back our post issued a series of stamps highlighting German cars of the 50s. On the most expensive stamp was not a BMW or a Mercedes Benz 190 or 300 SL. It was a Borgward Isabella Coupe. I literally love all of my US cars, but I could never sell my Isabella. It will be the last that goes when the time comes. Of course its design was heavily influenced by US car design.
