1959 Borgward Isabella, not mine.
Hans1965 replied to Xander Wildeisen's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
This is a screaming deal. Looks magnificent. I do own a 1958 model with the bigger rhombus in the grill. Here in Germany they still bring good money and they are a pleasure to drive. Mine never let me down. BMW in those days had luxury cars and nothing else. Borgward was competing with Opel, Ford, VW and the like. When Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Borgward bankrupted under dubious circumstances in 1961 his engineers moved on to Mercedes and BMW. BMW was nicknamed "Borgward Macht Weiter" = Borgward continues. His legacy still lives on in Germany and the Isabella coupe was his finest.- 29 replies

It doesn't look too bad. The dash and steering wheel look really good. But what's wrong with the front bumper? Not from an early 50s Pontiac. That's why the bumper guard is hanging down like that. -
Where can I buy rubber mats? Need one for my 1947. Thanks.

"PROJECT" has now become nearly unaffordable to ever do ?

You are so right!!! When I get into my garage I follow a similar strategy. Get one technical and one cosmetic thing done every evening I am there. The first gets you closer to the street, the latter pleases your own eye and keeps your motivation high. Wonderful picture! -

"PROJECT" has now become nearly unaffordable to ever do ?
Hans1965 replied to arcticbuicks's topic in General Discussion
As you might have seen, I bought this project recently. Will I make money with it? Impossible from the start, because I don't want to sell. I love the body style, the brand and I feel I accumulated the knowledge and experience over the years to deal with the challenges. Maybe I fail, but then I have you guys here as support. I buy cars like this to have something to do and not to sit on the sofa all the time after work. To buy a finished car is boring to me. Honestly, I don't care so much about the economical sense of starting this project. It's a hobby! And it is about improving the car over time. It will not get worse while it is in my hands. I hope.- 243 replies

Not mine!!!! Photos are bad, interior is a shame, but OMG, what a car! Manual transmission! 17 days on craigslist. Are there no Cadillac lovers left in the US? https://maine.craigslist.org/ctd/d/gardiner-1947-cadillac-convertible/7689151150.html "Great driving classic convertible. Older repaint that shows some battle scars. Fun car to use as is and not worry about scratching it. Not a restored show car but not 100 grand either!"

I like the proportions of this car with the long hood. Interior like a time capsule and very complete. Price is good. -

Thanks a lot! Does anybody can spare one? -
It is harder to find than I thought. Is there any Buick/Olds windscreen that interchanges with Cadillac for that year of '48/'49? Thanks a lot.

David, i couldn't agree more. And when the engine is running for the first time or you take it out for a spin, this is so rewarding! Changing its status from giant paper weight to a car. Thats why i never buy a ready to drive car.
