  1. I've had these for awhile and still have no ideas. Maybe string guides or??? All are different lengths and have a leather strap to attach them to something.
  2. It looks a little fancy to have been original equipment on a Star, may have been added later. Star was the cheaper car from Durant.
  3. Okay, that's the difference. I knew there was one but it was out of the memory back. There is a guy in California named Johnson that comes up with that stuff periodically and is familiar with most of it. People out there had money in the early days and spent it on cars. If I can find his number I will PM it to you. I haven't seen or heard from him in a few years but hopefully he's still kicking.
  4. Try Dick Shappy Classic Auto Parts in Rhode Island. He got the last of that stuff I had. The memory is getting a little foggy now but while you're looking, look for two,one for each carb. There should be mounting holes in your firewall or firewall cover, pretty sure the tank mounted at all four corners. They are sort of halfround will have to fit those mounting holes. So just a little bigger than the mounting. The V-12 also had a fairly heavy chromed casting on the bottom with a glass sediment bowl. Believe V12 and V-16 used the same tank but maybe not the sediment bowl. If I can find a picture I'll enter it later. Good luck.
  5. When cars and trucks got bigger and heavier,a lot of them had these so they could get stopped. It's an early power brake system. It might be worth your while to pay to get it positively identified. I think it can be done through the club. Someone that has the vehicle it came off of would surely be interested especially if theirs was getting weak. They could get it rebuilt, then change it out when time permitted. Rather than removing their existing one, sending it off and hopefully getting it back. I've read a million Wanted ads and quite a few from guys that sent something off and the "plater ruined it,shop burned down, shop went broke and my part is gone,or the shop lost it". Then their car has to set until they can track down another one, whatever it is.
  6. These were in a joblot of items I bought from a restorer and identified by him. Some of the stuff I could use but not these two items. Like to get $75 for the column,$275 for the bumperettes plus shipping. Chrome is very nice. Check okay, paypal preferred. Please PM me if interested.
  7. The V-16 had a 3" bore and 4" stroke for 452 cubic inches. Hence the model,1930 was 452 and '31 was 452A. Sometime in early 1930 they figured out they needed heavier front springs, went from 2 1/4" wide to 2 1/2" wide and heavier wheels.
  8. If you have a pair of master welled front fenders in nice shape and maybe a rebuilt engine from a car that was sold or hotrodded laying around your garage that you are tired of tripping over and they are somewhere near this end of the planet, give me a holler. PM or a note here. If you are trying to get money for "blue sky",you need not respond.
  9. That is a neat piece. In the fifty some years I've been buying and selling parts I don't recall ever seeing another one. Along with the trunk you also have to have the correct trunkrack to fit it. Generally when the back of it,where the latches are, folds down,it's to get the fitted suitcases out so you could carry them into the hotel. Any sign of matching black suitcases in the attic? Or garage rafters? They would help the value. Speaking of value, that's a tough one. Comparing to a Chevrolet trunk,I've sold a couple rough ones in the $200-300 range. I believe the really nice ones could go in the $1200-1500 range. I recently paid $1000 for a 33 Chevy just the rack, pretty good one but still missing a couple pieces of the stainless that the trunk would sit on. The racks and the trunks are sought after accessories.
  10. Really in pretty good condition, unfortunately all three of the mounting bolts are broke off in it. $85 and about $13.20 to ship it. Check OK,paypal preferred. Please PM me if interested.
  11. I'm not into these, just happen to have this one piece. Obviously it's missing the impeller. The bushing feels good and tight,no wobble. Pulley looks good,no cracks or chips. I'm not the one to ask for any technical questions on these. Like to get $65 and that would include shipping to lower 48. Check okay, paypal preferred. Please PM me if interested.
  12. It's a TYPE GB number 60427,number GB44 cast into the end. Spacing on mounting bolts 2 3/4" on center. My old electrical book is Autos, goes from GA,others like GAB,GD so it skips over GB. Copyright 1930 but goes back to the teens so this gen may be truck or motorcycle. The gear shows no wear at all. Any help appreciated.
  13. It could be to take up slack as two mating surfaces get worn.
  14. Surface rust, light pitting in the tire area, minor hammer tracks on the latch and will probably need some penetrating oil on it. Otherwise good, straight, solid rim with very little if any wear at the split. Overall width about 4 3/8". Tire size probably 31x4 1/2. $125 FedEx included, check okay, paypal preferred. Please PM me if interested.
  15. Chris, Last March at the Chickasha Oklahoma prewar swapmeet a guy had two pretty nice sets of sidemount covers,I believe one was 1936 and the other 1937-38 but can't swear to it now. In my opinion, covers are harder to find than fenders. Anyway each set was in the $800-900 range. If you are interested I could maybe find his contact information and it would be between you and him,I'm not into it for any finders fee. Steve G.
  16. I bet she got a lot of looks cruising that thing down mainstreet.
  17. Thanks Grimy for pointing that out. Wasn't Tulare also in conjunction with a tractor swapmeet?
  18. Don, Is it a red-eyed,small mouthed sea monster or a 39-40 Hudson hood. The previous owner added those later hudson taillights to the sides, cut some off the back and added some to the front corners.I'm going to PM you some more pictures and info. Steve
  19. Don,I have one located about 50 miles South of here in Northern Colorado. I didn't have room to load it but should be able to get back down there in the next couple three days. It has been mildly modified. Honestly it's going to be in about the $400 range,I'll send you pics, you're under no obligation on it so you can decide.
  20. This may be one of those systems to check for low oil pressure reasons. You would take the pan off, fill the tank full of oil, hook it up to the oil system, put some air behind it,turn the valve on and see where excess oil was running out.
  21. Several years ago I trecked the 1200 miles back to the Bakersfield swapmeet with a load to sell. Included were 8 or 10 good used tires,no 36x6. Towards the end of the meet a guy from one of the Ca tire dealers bought all of them. I don't remember which company, maybe Lucas, don't know if they are still in business, but you might try calling the dealers advertising in Hemmings and other places and see if they have anything in the back room. Or they may have a lead for you. I've also heard the Tulare swapmeet in April has a lot of used tires but I have not been there. While you're looking, please keep an eye out for 35x5 wide whitewalls for me and I'll watch for the big 24" for you.
  22. I sent you a PM Max,that's what I needed to hear.
  23. Original unplated 7/16" splined wheel bolts, calling them 4" long but closer to 3 7/8 to 3 15/16. NOS,never used. No rust. Selling all in a lot for $139.50,shipping included. Check is fine, paypal preferred. Please PM me if interested.
