  5. Hello craig,---no the dynel cloth goes with resin, that is what gives it the strength, just lay it on the item your working with, clean and dry the item first,-,mask the area that you dont wont to strength en, lay the cloth down, then just adhere the resin with a brush, or small roller if its a big item, over the top, one coat to cover the dynel cloth---let it dry----minimum time is about 12 hours,---give it a rough sand to flatten it out, then a final coat of just the resin,- use plenty -let it dry--final sand to smooth. for memory i used to do them from about 9.00oclock to 3.00 oclock on the shroud top ,rap it around under to the inside.---for some reason i did many 1966 rivs for memory they were impossible to buy--probably still are--dont know Wayne.

  8. Hi Intronaut,---were you able to find the source of your ticking noise. Reason there is another possible area to check. If you have recently remove all your spark plugs and refitted ,then it is not the other reason i am going to mention now. When i purchased my present 1964 Electra convertible 401ci, from USA, i live in Australia,--,4 years ago. the previous owner sent me a video of starting the Buick up so i could here it running from cold, he was always a bit concerned that it had a 1 noisy lifter, so when the video came through ---sure i could here it, but said to him--- no problem ---i will worry about it when it arrives into Australia. So after a couple of days driving etc, i decided to remove all the spark plugs, to inspect the colour and condition all were great and good, but when i started to remove them ,i started with the drivers side rear plug moving forward to the plug at the front nearest to the power steering pump, and put my hand down and could not believe it,--- i could remove it with my hand,---was about about 1 full turn from tight. thats what was causing the ticking like a lifter noise. i will get my daughter to try and send the video tomorrow,--not sure how to do that.--regards. sorry was not able to paste video.

  14. WE tend to forget and dont actually go back to basics ,when it comes to oils, when i lived in California, i had a classic car collection of about 15 different makes of cars , always about that many buying and selling , the area i lived was the Sacramento valley where it gets very hot 102 to 110 during the 3 to 4 months of summer, so all my classics were drivers, about 3 to 5 of these were Buicks, but in those 10 years i lived there i used Penzoil 10-40 in the summer, and in the colder months switched to Penzoil 15-30,--i never did find out what the zinc content was in those days, but was very pleased with that brand, and never ones did i ever have a engine problem, with all those cars. At the start here i said back to basics,--one has to read your original owners manual, and study it very carefully to the grade of oil you should use during the cold and hot temperatures you get where you live.----i think this is one of the most important areas to stick to. Here in Australia i use Valvoline XLD premium mineral ,15-40 all the time as where i live here temps are from approx 50 to 90 all the time. and it is high in zinc. and i have never used synthetic oil ,only in my latest Lexus NX 350 f sport Hybrid.

  20. Ed two things here ,you may be better with a battery position on a piece of lumber with original battery connections in place. also i know with chev corvette there is also a ground at the switch on dash--so that may the problem. Also over the years when i purchased cars in California about half the buicks there wipers were never working, probably because it does not rain there alot. May not be connected, but what i used to do was pull a washer hose of under the hood and blow hot water through with my mouth into the motor, then run round and push the wiper switch,-- and they would start working this primes the pump inside the motor , and on many occasions, all work ok. then i would clear and clean both spray nossels with a single thin cooper electrical wire.
  21. I want to thank--Seafoam65--TomT--Ed----Jon-- and Tom for answering my question. I purchased a old 1950--51 looks like brass may be copper from another car make triagular shape it will look better than nothing,---most persons dont know authenticity of these anyway. Was $5.00,---i could not believe some of the prices for these on ebay some in the hundreds.
  22. I am going to detail my 64 engine a little, and i have purchased a small Carter AFB brass-copper id carburetor tag. Looking from the front, what corner of carb is the correct corner to fit this. 10oclock--2.00oclock-- 8oclock--4.00oclock. Thank you to any one that helps.
