I installed halogen sealed headlamps on my 54 and 60 Buicks. No relay. The 54 lights are now fantastic. First time I hit the high beams I couldn't believe the brightness. Nothing went up smoke after driving it with high beams on for an hour. The 60 nighttime driving is much improved with halogen sealed headlamps as well. I used Wagner headlamps. Amp draw as advertised looked good. I ran with it.

Well, for me, an engine that gets past 100k miles owes you nothing. Anything beyond is a bonus. After the rebuild she'll be good for another 100k. Looking forward to watching you rebuild and first start.

Sticker Shock? Hagerty Drivers Club $70

I have it as part of my insurance with Hagerty. It's basically $6 a month. The magazine is great reading. The money also helps with programs like Barn Finds and Redline Rebuild. Both excellent programs. Watched one last night the concerned a Pantera engine rebuild. These programs support our hobby. Plus, it covers any towing of your classic if needed. -
Cure Ride. A brand I have not heard of. More than likely permitting the tire to bounce and no dampening on rough roads. Given the limited brands making shocks that fit these cars your choices are few. I believe I put Gabriel on mine. The factory springs on my 60 were simply not up to the tasks. Bottom out. Sag when passengers where in the backseat. Plus it looked like an ass dragger. A set of progressive coils provide a factory ride and also can carry a heavy load when needed. Concerning the slight imbalance, rebalance the tires.

New set of coil springs and shock. BTW, it appears your axle is leaking gear oil.

A majority of the jacks designed in the era are widow makers.

I will keep wrenching on them until my body says, "No more". As of late my shoulders are humming that tune. Advil will travel.

Glad it's working. It should not click.

What do you pack for spare parts on long trips

A set of points and tools to switch it out. A small floor jack because the original equipment widow maker is a well earned moniker. A qt of oil. A cellphone. And water to drink while waiting for a tow. I never needed the water. Knock on wood. -
As a side note, a small exhaust leak between the head and exhaust manifold will mimic a tapping valve. Purchase a stethoscope at the auto parts store. These do work well in hearing tapping, grinding and any other sounds that are probably expensive to repair.

Mine looked much the same when I cracked it open. I replaced the accelerator pump. Left in the steel float needles. Buttoned it up. Runs great. The glass bowl filter has been in for 5 years now. No issues. Still clear.

Concur with the others. Look to replace the plastic fuel filter. When i purchased mine it had this type filter. I found the correct glass one with bracket on Ebay. If not on Ebay maybe a member her has one to sell. Nice Buick!

My 60 wipers are slow to start when it's cold outside. Slow to stop as well. The grease inside is old and hard. Warmth makes the difference. Also cleaning out the old grease and replacing with new makes a bigger difference! And is more than likely your solution. BTW, I live in Glen Burnie MD! Feel free to message me with any questions on your 60.

I'd love a 4th gear in my 54. Can't say I blame you!
