Not a clue.

The control valve is connected to the core. It's not the best design as you can guess. I would think those without the control valve has a previous owner give up on the control valve and replaced with a core not requiring a control valve to complete the circuit.

Two keys. Door/trunk key. Ignition key. Nice 60!

I see a diamond in the rough. I also wear trifocals. 🤓

Pulled the core. Thankful it's easy. Not late 80s Ford with the entire dashboard on your lap trying to get at the core. I hooked up the heater hoses and confirmed antifreeze pouring out of the back of the plunger. Boxed it up and going out Monday.

Springs and Things in PA. Get progressive coil springs. They are reasonably priced. -

The amount of coolant entering the cabin which is a waterfall....the valve. Understand I replaced the valve Jan 2023. I have used the heater quite a bit since then. Especially in the last 2 weeks. Running it sometimes daily. Two days ago smelled the smell we all know and hate. Looked at the passenger side floor to see the coolant dripping. Shut it down. Move the valve again and it got worse. It proceeded to get worse with pouring coolant onto the floorboard. I will pull the entire unit as you know and hook up the heater hose outside of the car and run it to confirm. I did this before installing it back in Jan to assure no leaks.

That's the rub. The valve design is not the greatest. I guess they figured it out because later designs do not fail like these valves. I would venture a pipe could be brazed into the flange that bolts to the core. Install a inline valve. Originality is gone however your passengers feet are not getting 200 degree coolant dumped on them.

Definitely holding pressure.

I wonder about the cap. I plan on replacing it.

You guessed it, failed heater control valve.... again. Less than a year installed. I have replaced it twice with rebuilt valves. Other than a possible poor rebuild would anything else cause this weak link in the system to fail? At what pressure point would this valve fail? Any tips for this weak link?

This is exactly what my driving instructor advised I do when a car is approaching at night. High beam or not. Look at the white line on the side of the road until the other car passes.

HID headlights are the worst. GM has been required to recall pick up trucks with headlights that are not only too bright but also in the line of sight of on coming drivers. Not sure the fix for that. Try a pair of anti glare night driving glasses. Anyway, I installed, just the weekend, halogen sealed beams in my 54 Buick. The original sealed beams were still in service. Very big difference.

Are sure it's not the Dynaflow leaking? -
A tape measure, string, two floor jacks and a wrench is what I use to set the toe on my Buicks. Both do not pull left or right due to caster or camber issues. The toe is set off the rear axle. Look up the string alignment method. PS. Shops today set the toe and let it go. That's all they know because shims for camber and caster on A arm suspensions are no longer.

The reflector silvering is degrading and falling off. Not complaining after some 60 years! Hell, even some of my silvering is falling off at the age of 58.
