I agree, that is a possibility. On the other hand the buyer might believe that he should offer all cash at the 20k price before the value of the car hits 22k. No, just kidding most reasonable people will believe that the car is worth no more than 16k and you would be dealing with a fool here and a greedy one at that. If the seller cannot be straight forward and honest with the price, why should you trust him with the condition of the car? When dealing with this much money, I would rather deal with some one who is honest.

Curious strategy going on here, I have seen it before so there is more than one person out there with this thought process. The plan is keep raising the price of the car until it sells. Now I'm not saying this guy is all wet, maybe in these times with inflation is on everyone's mind that the seller is onto something. I just don't buy into it. IMO you can go too far with wide white wall tires and you end up with a clown car. He is really on the edge here.

36 Pontiac coupe $4800/not mine
kingrudy replied to Buick35's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
I couldn't see it until the brochure was posted. Having stated that, to bring this car to that level will take a very large investment. Even at that stage IMO you will have a beautiful car that is worth half of what you have put into it. I sure would like to see this car finished if some takes it on. -
I believe there is a fan club out there for Chevs of the 40s, but this might be the high end of the market for this car. I would compare it to the '40 Super that DEAC recently purchased, which in my opinion is very well sorted out. Does a chevy of the same era bring 5K more? Maybe the seller is adding in some sentimental value. Very pretty car IMO.

What is with the statement, "Toying with the idea.... Does this mean he is leaning towards selling the car, or the thought just crossed his mind? Maybe this means, no tire kickers and the price is firm. Great looking car that is pretty well preserved. My truck fits in my garage with 2" to spare, I would have to modify my garage for this car.

DEAC, I forgot one thing. I did not mean to criticize the stylish hub caps that are on your car. Like I always say, I took my car down to the frame and all the decisions that either make my car appealing, or an eyesore were mine. So if anyone does not like anything about it, I'm ok with that because at the end of the day it is My car. -

Deac, I am not a shill for Bob's Automobilia, but..... I purchased the sill plates from him and they fit and look beautiful (not cheap). My car still needs some tweaking, but it's coming along. If you come across any parts cars Super or Roadmaster, please drop me a line. I will check out your Pontiac. Stay in touch. Mike -

All of the expensive stuff has been sorted out on your car, such as interior(mine was $6000), paint, wiring and trans. Bob's Automobilia will have the correct trim rings and hub caps for your car. I couldn't tell if the wheels are stock 16" or not. I have been told that some people opted to change out the 16s for 14s. Very sharp looking car, you will get noticed on the road. Doug rebuilt my steering column, he does good work. -
This could be a winner for someone. Drive it and do some small things each year. I would start with chrome plating the grill, sure would make this car look brighter IMO.

1941 Buick Limited Series 90 Limousine
kingrudy replied to deac's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
I am not familiar with the price range of these 90 series cars. It sure looks clean as a whistle, very well presented. Do you think that a 90 series car would be worth more than a 70 series? I'm a fan of this year Buick, but I would rather have a Roadmaster coupe than the limo. My taste might be off on this. -
I like the design of this car, but the bumpers are rusted and the interior is non existent. The first thing that I noticed are the oversized wide white walls (looks like 4"), makes the car look like a clown car. If I didn't know how much an interior, paint and chrome would cost then I might buy this car. The seller is in a hole with this car and he is hoping someone will take it off his hands.

I'm on board with the last two posts. If I were listing the car I would add: 1. new brakes in summer of 2018 2. Compression test completed Spring of 2020 3. Completely rewired in Spring of 2012 4. Carb rebuilt this year by National Carb Florida. The more information the better. as it may keep some of the tire kickers from wasting your time. At least it shows that you have maintained the car.
