  1. This body style is very attractive IMO. It looks like the seller has used some of the carpeting from the 70s to cover the trunk and the flooring. The paint looks good, but most of the interior looks like a major overhaul is in order. It all comes down to the mechanicals. If the car runs, stops and drives in an orderly fashion, this could be a good deal.
  2. I would request more pics of this car if I was searching for a GM convertible of this era. In the pics provided the engine compartment looks good and the body looks good, but there is a rip in the seat and the hub caps look a little scruffy (little things). At 47K for a Special, I would expect everything to be sorted out.
  3. You would need to buy a donor car to replace all of the rusty panels. Maybe two donor cars because the frame is probably infected with the tin worm also.
  4. Very nice original car. The spinner steering wheel is very cool. To the right of the gas pedal is that circular button on the floor for the bright lights? Seems like a fair price for this car, hope someone buys it and keeps it as original as possible.
  5. Might not run too well with the location of the radiator.
  6. I recall when I first got the car (12 years ago) when you lifted the trunk lid all the way the tab would flip (kind of spring loaded) so that the tab would not allow the support to collapse and the trunk to close, you had to flip that tab then the trunk would close all the way. Then one day that little spring that flipped the tab no longer worked, but I could flip it manually to keep the trunk lid open and reverse the process to close it. I was hoping that there might be an easy fix.
  7. This is the part of the support that is my concern. The small tab in the center of the slide, at one time flipped to the left (spring) to not allow these two parts to collapse and the trunk to close when loading the trunk. I can open the trunk all the way and flip this tab and lower the trunk and it will not close, then reverse this process to close the trunk. There are two large springs (one on each side bottom) that slow the trunk lid to keep it from slamming (work fine).
  8. I really like the Packards that were produced in 1955 and 1956, but I believe this car needs some work to bring it back to life. Seems like the seller is being straight up in mentioning the issues that the car has. If all of the mechanical issues are straightened out and the car runs and drives well, this could be a good deal. It looks like the car has been painted and the chrome separations are missing, carpet and maybe some interior details. GLWTS
  9. Very interesting, if had not already spent a bunch of money to bring a car of this era back to life, I might be interested.
  10. I have been trying to get out of the Home Owners Association that I am a part of. I think that putting this in my front yard would cause the neighbors to lose their minds.
  11. The parts manual refers to these as supports, but Body Manual and the Service and Maintenance Manual just tell you where they are.
  12. Beautiful car, but IMO the interior doesn't seem correct and if I were to spent 80K, everything should be correct.
  13. IMO can't get too much of that Rangoon Red. To me, the 63 1/2 500 XL in the Rangoon Red inside and out is a truly beautiful car. But this sure is nice, wish it had the factory hub caps. Probably a 289, my preference would be the 390.
  14. Very clean car, wish I could say more, but that's all there is. Certainly not a car worth 30K unless there is 15K under the seat.
  15. Most people will not know why this Olds having a Hydramatic trans is unique to this year, but that does not make this four door sedan worth 27.5K
  16. Very attractive car in my opinion. What confuses me is if the seller is really serious about selling this car for 30k, why don't you have this car detailed? Sometimes you have to spend money, to make money.
  17. This is a tough one, appears to have sat for many years in exposed storage. If it's been sitting in the garage since 1996, I would fix the roof in that garage, if there is one. Tough sell here, this could be a project.
  18. I agree that plaid seat covers do not do this car any favors. This car appears to be well sorted out.
  19. This was a very attractive car at one time. I have never seen one, but I can picture this car all redone in the original colors and this would be the cat's pajamas.
  20. Nice looking car at a reasonable price, can't beat that combination.
