  1. Here are the gears from a 54’ I bought from the preacher a couple years ago. He even dropped them off at the house. Matt
  2. So, I usually have the 47’ out for 2-3 nights a week. Corvettes go out one night a week respectively. Was out on 50+ mile run and pulled out from a stop light and 3rd gear is gone again. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Got her back up on stands again in the garage tonight. Will start pulling the rear tomorrow and possibly the tranny. Am thinking that while the rear is out, might as well put the different gear set in to make highway cruising a little easier. And so it goes. Only have a couple weeks to fix her and get it Back together. Am planning a week long vacation in the Buick. Going to try to hit a lot of state parks with A tent and the family. Everyone is kinda pumped about it and then this happened. Matt
  3. Out again tonight. Drove 30 min out for ice cream and 30 back. Beautiful night. Buick runs without a hitch. Smooth!!!!
  4. I took both corvettes out this afternoon for 1/2 hour rides and the Buick went for a longer leg stretch of an hour long ride. Was dark when got home and of course, too busy driving for picture taking. Matt
  5. Most of you know I am a Buick guy. I have recently acquired a 1926 Chevy. A restoration was started on this car 28+ years ago. I am still putting it together, have all of the wiring harness hooked up and am trying to get it to fire. The points are not sparking when I break them. i have voltage. Isn’t there supposed to be a condenser in the distributor? Or this early of a car didn’t require it. Thanks a million guys. Here is a few pictures
  6. Drove the 47’ 80+ miles this afternoon. Hit a rain shower and put the top up and drove in the rain for 15 miles. Stopped raining and ran 41 miles back home. Put top back up, washed car and put away in the garage. So FUN to drive a Buick!
  7. Actually, going up under the radiator would keep it away from the engine heat. Need to find a way to run it on the frame rail, away from the manifolds and exhaust.
  8. Correct. I always suggest the additional switch to avoid problems with over pressure. Have seen two nice cars catch fire under the hood because of too much pressure pushing past seats and flooding over the carb floats. with switch, you can turn pump on when vapor lock starts and turn back off when past problem. Also good for priming before cranking I recommend a rebuild of mechanical pump. Matt
  9. Looking for a coil for my 26’. Also the wire socket connectors that connect to rear of headlight buckets thanks Matt
  10. Think car is a 26’ but paperwork says 27’. Oh well. Cleaned all the paint off the engine and starter and cleaned up the direct drive on the starter. Got the engine to crank over. New battery today that is correct for the car. Got all the wires connected under the Hood. Taillight comes on and stays on. Will have to figure out what is hooked up wrong there. i have no voltage to points and coil is not firing. What is the dial on top of the coil? There was two ends of small wire hanging out of it and, now that I pulled it, there is t any wire underneath the knob. Matt
  11. Really sounds like you are dealing with vapor lock issues. The fuel is boiling by the time it gets to the carb. Thank ethanol for that. Do you have anywhere you can buy non ethanol gas? Many have installed an electric fuel pump inline and close to the tank and an electric switch to turn it on to prime the carb before starting and also when experiencing the vapor lock issues. i live in NEPA, not far from you and experience the same issues sometimes when 80+ deg Matt
  12. Have put over 1600 miles on ny 47 this year. Only working half days and no weekends, so have had plenty of time to get out and drive. Have also put 500 miles on my 77’ vette and have temporarily acquired two other vehicles. Literally barn finds. A 84’ vette and a 27 Chevy. Both off the road for 20+ years. More on those later.
  13. Hey guys. Been awhile since I posted anything of significance. I have acquired two cars this last week and am trying to get the 27 Chevy running. It has been in a barn, (yes a barn find) for the last 28 years. Before that, the PO was restoring the car. Has all new wood, new wiring harness, tires, top and paint was new. Now, the paint is chipping off in places and I have the car almost put back together. My problem now is the starter will turn, but the gear does not automatically run out the shaft to engage the flywheel. It will move out 1/2” and stops. Does it require any special lubrication? I have sprayed the worm with silicone spray and have it out of the car cycling the starter and it just doesnt want to come all the way out. more on the barn find in another thread. I promise
  14. My 1947 Buick Roadmaster Convertible. Took 7-8 years. Still tinkering with Little things. Matt
  15. I work in aluminum die casting. While working in Mexico, at one of my previous employers facilities, a small splash of aluminum fell on a pallet of scrap magnesium parts we used to maintain our aluminum within specs. The only way to calm a mag fire is to smother it. By the time I had it smothered, I had melted the tires completely off of our skidsteer, the whole back wall (30 feet) of our building was melted off and I nearly had to beat a fireman to death with his hose. 10 days later, the internal temp of the dirt piled over the magnesium was still over 1800 deg f. Mag is very dangerous if not handled accordingly Matt
  16. Looks like at least two vehicles were on the 4th floor.
  17. I have extra sets of the escutcheons if needed by anyone Matt
  18. I bought a set on ebay 5-6 months ago. The guy had several listed. None available right now. Were NOS with estucheons and all. Just have to keep your eyes peeled Matt
  19. I will look Pete. May have one more stashed away Matt
