  1. No, Eds was not modified, you are thinking of one of the Hupp club members that put a different engine and a 3 speed transmission in his Model 20.
  2. Well yours may not go very fast but in 1995 on a Hupp tour in Ohio, I followed Ed Kiley with his 1909 Model 20 between 45 and 50 Mph. Now thats hauling A_ _.
  3. I have a few Hupps but no Model B. The Hupp Club has tec. advisors on all the models, maybe they will see this post and have an answer for you. On second thought, I will email him and ask him his thoughts on your problem.
  4. By the way, I love roadsters, how about posting a pic
  5. Not my car, the reference book.
  6. Well the original carb was a Stromberg, but my 1932 B-216 Hupmobile reference book does not give the model. See the scan.
  7. Too many cars, need to sell this car. Engine rebuit run about 50 Hrs. Goes down the road quieter than my 1936 Hupp Model N and my 1927 Pierce Arrow Model 36 enclosed drive limo. New interior. All original hub caps which are scarcer than hens teeth. Thats the good. Needs some body work and paint. Needs new tires. See pic. Pr ice is $6995. Car is in N.H. P M me for more info.
  8. Well I done with what I want to do. Engines done, interior done I am a mechanic, not a body man. New owner can finish. I think this car the way it drives and looks is worth $7000. After a good paint and body work it would be worth about $10,000. The car is located N.H. PM me for more info. See pic.
  9. If you post some pic of what you have, that will help.
  10. Well Mothers day was a good excuse to take a ride in the Pierce. With both of are Moms in Heaven, In took the mother of are 2 children out to lunch.
  11. 36Hupp, Charter member of the Hupp club started in 1970.My 36 Model N in out of a thousand cars in our club, my 1936 N is the only registered and running on the road. Plus its 1 of 21 produced. But since I was gifted with a 1927 Pierce Arrow I may have to change it .
  12. Here are Pic of the 4 body styles, Note that these are pic of the 1932 Model F which is a 122in. wheel base. Yours being a 126in. wheel base. Not many differences in the cars. I do have a model I brochure but it is out of my hands at this time The last pic on the right is your car style. Raymond Loewy who designed 1932,33 and 34 cycle fender cars. The front fender wrapped tight around the front fender He also designed the Aerodynamic Hupps 1934-1938.
  13. That's great , looks like your on the right track.
  14. Well here are some production figures on the Hupp Model I A totol of 664 cars were produced in 4 different body styles. 4dr sedan, 2dr Victoria, cabriolet roadster and coupe. I do not have any figures that tells how many of each body styles were produced. The model I had a 126 in. wheel base. The model F had a 122 in. wheel base. The Model I had a larger engine 110 hp while the F had 106 hp. The body on your car looks like it does not have a lot of rust through, that's good. I sure hope you have the trunk cover If you do not, you will find it very hard to come by. I love stock Hupps, I do have some great friends in the Hupp club with modified cars, Some you look at them and can not tell it from stock Others , you can see they are not. It would be a dull if we all liked the exact things. You have a Hupmobile model that a true Hupp guy would love to have, Enjoy it. When I get my other computer.on line, I will post some pic.
  15. His problem is that he wants a 1909 or a 1910. In 1911 Hupp produced 6079 just a few cars less than 1909 and 1910 put together. A 1911 would be a lot easier to find. He picked the harder years to find. The total production on the Model 20 was 15,780 I just thought he would like to know by picking those 2 years it will be harder to find one of them and cost more money than a later year. Food for thought.
  16. Well you want a car that the total production in 2 years was only 6958 cars a 110 years ago. I counted 28 cars some years ago on the Hupp club roster. In 1995 we had a Hupp Club tour in Ohio. There were 3 Model 20's there but on one went on tour with the club. It was a 1909 owned by a Hupp Club member named Ed Kiely. No electric starter. I watched Ed start that car many times after we would stop to look at attractions along the tour route. I watched him with just 1 pull of the crank and the car was running.. The most amazing was following him on straight and level roads at 40- 50 mph. So I say to you , good luck in you quest to find a 1909-1910 Hupmobile, as Henry Ford said to Robert Hupp. " Bobby you have a great little car."
  17. Well in two weeks I will be able to drive a car that a poor boy like me only dreamed of owning. Hopefully the snow will be gone and the roads salt free. If not at least I can check it all out and get it ready for touring when the roads are ok.
  18. If someone is truly interested in that car, GO and see if you can make the engine turn over. If not unless you were born a rich man, forget it.
  19. I do not have my 2018 Hupmobile club roster with me but you can get a lot of help from our club members. i f you are a member you will know this. If not join us for some help with your restoration..
  20. My 1927 Pierce Arrow Model 36 Limo, I do not park it and leave it untended. It is a museum piece.
  21. Looking further into my owners manual it tells there was a small pouch that had 6 or 7 tools that went in the left side clove box on the dash. This was an easy reach of the chauffeur Here is a list of tools that came with my car.
  22. Simon, there is an transmission idler gear on Ebay- Hupmobile Parts section for your model 20. Chuck
  23. A pic opened up would help, possible tool pouch. but no matter what, it would look nice in my 1927 Model 36 Pierce limo tool box.
  24. In 2010 the Hupp club had a week tour in N.H. We went to Le baron Bonney and had a great time on a plant tour. I am amateur upholsterer doing my own cars and some close friends I was really pleased to see how the pro's did it. We had about 20 Hupps in the parking lot and the employee's and customers enjoyed seeing so many Hupmobiles in one spot. I restored a 1929 Hupp model A and installed 1931 Hupp Model S window risers and bought the inside hardware at Lebaron Bonney. Really going to miss them.
  25. Not sure if you know this but we have a Hupmobile club that started in 1970. The light, spark and throttle levers were made of pot metal and broke very easily. A club member some time ago had some cast but not out of pot or as they called it pig metal. We have a parts locator that lists spare parts that are for sale. If you become a member you may advertise for parts you need. We also have a very extensive library that members may have, for a small fee copies of Hupp literature on file there. We also have tec advisors on each model Hupp. If you are interested, in your search engine just type Hupmobile Club P.S. we have great tours and stops for ice cream.
