  1. On Oct. 12th not feeling I had enough strength to drive the Pierce Arrow 30 miles each way to the show at Shaker Village, I used my enclosed trailer. I had the trailer attached to my dump truck and decided to use my F--250 pickup.to haul the car to the show. When I backed the Pierce out of the trailer, the trailer ball came out the receiver. The pin that held the ball on was missing. Not too far away from where I was parked the Studebaker Club members had a row of there cars parked. As I pulled in to park the Pierce at the show at least 3 members of the Studebaker club came over and said if you give us the key to your truck, we will see if we can see what is wrong with your trailer. After a while they came back and said, there is no pin in the trailer ball. I told them there were 2 more balls in the pickup and there should be a pin in one. Not long after they came back with my keys and said, you are all set. I thanked them for helping me as I could not have fixed it my self. They are a fine group of car people. They took time away from the show to help a fellow car guy in need. I am very grateful for there help
  2. I wanted to let you know , I recieved the book The Checkered Flag and it it super, Thank You very much Chuck Moore
  3. To the right of his finger, whats that round thing that looks like a pin or a set screw?
  4. I would say if you went back yesterday or today there should be a motor home in one of the spots.
  5. Just wanted to say hi to all the members of the Hupp club that are there at Hershey. 2020 is our club 50th. year as an on going club. I am proud to say that I am a charter member. Due to an illness I can not go this year but look forward to next.
  6. Well sometimes the plans of men just do not happen. My mind said yes, my heart said yes, but the chemo and radiation left me to weak to make it happen. There will be other times and car shows.
  7. Well after a lot of thinking, I signed up for the Littleton Lions car show on Saturday and Sunday. September 28th and 29th. I am over half way on my Chemo and radiation still feeling strong enough to make this show. I am sorry that I can not make the Boston Cup show as the Pierce would have made a good showing. I will post some pic after I go to Littleton.
  8. I had a heating problem on my 1929 Hupp model A .Took the side water jacket side panel off and cleaned out what was in there, not much. Had the radiator boiled out by a radiator shop and 80 % flow rate was the end result. the shop said that would be ok. Installed the radiator back on the car and at 90 Deg.F out side temp the new temp gauge was reading 190 Deg running at a fast idle for !/2 Hr. Not satisfied with that I placed a fan on a chair in front of the radiator on low speed. Ran at same speed for 1/2 hr. Engine cooled down to 160. Had a 1931 pats car with a fan on the engine. Removed it and compared it to the one on the 29 and it had more aggressive pitch. Installed it on the 29 problem. solved. I told you this because if you have cracks in the head you may have a heating problem One Hupp guy helping another.
  9. This is a sweet 1929 Hupp Sport Coupe that my friend Dale owned and loved to drive.
  10. The feeling was mutual, to see Bugatti's Duesenberg, although it was a replica and a Rolls-Royce and so many great cars at one show was just the icing on the cake. Its hard to believe so many great cars were in one place in a small town in N.H.
  11. Took the Pierce to the Charity Concours of N.H. I was very pleased when the Pierce got 2 trophy's. They will go to Fl. and be placed with the other trophy's that the Pierce received when my good friend Dale owned it. The first one was The Boston Cup. This trophy is given with an invitation to the Boston Cup car show on the Boston Common. It is by special invitation only. Only 100 cars. The second trophy was for Pre war american cars. I was the only car that got 2 trophy's. See Pic. These are for Dale, the Pierce is my Trophy.

  16. That's when they made Automobiles, not the crap they make today.
  17. Not a Model 20, but a 1936 Hupmobile Model N. 1 of 21 produced in 1936 I waited 2 years to have this bridge open back up. My Hupp was the first car to cross the bridge even before it was officially open.

What you are looking at was in its first life a 1929 Hupmobile 4 dr sedan Model A. Now its just a car somebody changed to what they wanted.
  20. Well things do not look good for me selling the car, got an offer and my next door neighbor paid $20,000 more for a pickup truck than I was offered. I will not take less than I feel its worth.
  21. Sold my 1968 Charger and just found these in my stuff. NOS in the box from Chrysler corp. $100.00 plus $15 shipping. PM me first come first served. See Pic.
  22. When Dale told me he wanted me to have this car when he was no longer here, he also said, Chuck, I know that you are not a rich man and you may have to sell the Pierce Arrow in order to keep it in the great condition its in. I cannot find the words to tell people how sad it makes me to be faced with what I have to do.
  23. Congratulations a model 20 is a fun car. My oldest Hupp is a Model N 1916. If you join the Hupp Club , we started in 1970 and the members may have information about your car..
  24. You could follow the instructions a MOVE your quest to the right place.
  25. We did not travel those speeds very long. The road in Ohio we were on was very straight and flat with no turns. Ed had driven his Model 20 many miles and was a very experienced driver.
