  1. looks like a tester for sparkplugs. It would be helpful to see a better pic of the ends of the wires.
  2. I have a 91 Ranger standard cab, 4 cyl, 5 speed with a ton of miles on it. I do not use it much, just household and dump hauling but it has been a very dependable truck. It is small and not very comfortable, but for short runs it gets the job done. And I consider it fun to drive. I am glad to have it and plan to keep it around for a long time.
  3. Just from memory, they look GM possibly from the 40's? Can not find a picture to verify so may be completely wrong.

    Reminds me of the early 50's pontiac hood and trunk stripes. Just a guess.
  7. Not sure, but they may be an industral application. It has been a while since I have seen one, but it seems to remind me of instruments in a panel for irrigation motors.
  8. Wow!!!, This is unbelivable, Archiveman. The first car with ac for me was a 55 green and white Olds that my step father bought new in Albany Texas. It was an 88 though. The first 4 door hardtop sold in that dealership. He was good friends with the dealer and bought a new Olds every year thru most of the 50's until he retired from Mobil Oil and could not afford to trade that often. He gave me his well worn 55 Chevy work pickup as my first vehicle. Thanks for the memories.
  9. Sure hope owning a rare car is not a requirement for being here! At the moment I do not have a toy, but hope to have another one in the future. Time and finances are working against me at present. So for now I am content reading about other peoples cars and browsing the the threads and putting in some input where I feel I have some info on a subject. Congratulations on your new project.
  10. I am leaning more toward 64-65 Mercury Comet because of the three trim pieces on the front fender. Definately a Ford product from that time frame.
  11. Looks like it would be a great place to go. Wish it were closer, but that is a long way from Fla. If anyone goes, please post info (and pics, also) so we all can enjoy.
  12. The belt line and vent location look like a 1950 Reo, but not too sure about the windows.
  13. My neighbor down the street has a 69 Lincoln, solid black, low miles, etc, that he moves outside when he is working in his garage. My dog knows to stop at that driveway when it is out so I can admire it.
  14. What you discribe is common on any car if it is starving for fuel. It gets enough to run but not enough gas reaches the engine to power it when more acceleration demands more fuel. Usually gets worse over time as the filter lets less and less fuel thru or the pump weakens. You might try changing the fuel filter before going to more extreme masures. It may just be partially stopped up.
  15. It looks like the motor and transmission are there but who knows what condition they are in. Also some trim pieces and maybe some sheet metal could be salvaged. Also is it located where removal would be fairly easy? Personally, I would not think it to be very valuable, but very interesting. You might check e bay and see if any items like this are listed and see what they are going for.
  16. I think the mufflers are actually the resonators if they are for a Cad. They would be aftermarket because as I remember the originals were round. The mufflers would be much larger with offset inlets and outlets.
  17. In 1985 I saw an ad for a 67 Cadillac that was not running. I went to see it and found a very nice baby blue sedan deville with miles in the 60,000 range. The old couple said they started out of town and it started smoking and quit running. They just had it towed home and bought a new Chrysler and never checked to see what was wrong with it. I offered them a couple of hundred and dragged it home. When I found time to check it out, expecting to need an engine from their discription, I found a blown water pump that had saturated everything with antifreeze and what they thought was smoke was only steam from the coolant hitting the hot engine. I dried the distributor, put on a new pump and hoses and it was a wonderful car. If they had traded it in, it may have ended up in a junk yard. I am sure glad they sold it themselves.
  18. It might be helpful to explain to us the diference in the functions between an oil sender and oil switch. What exactly does the sender do?
  19. I agree. Looks to have been a moving van with a lift on the back to load heavy items. They were known to be very tough and dependable trucks in the 60"s. You can still find them running in farm country with flat beds or grain beds.
