I just got some samples in the mail from Formica company , don't laugh ! They have new line called DECOMETAL that is really sharp and is exactly the same .040 inch thickness as the walnut veneer . Thinking hard about maybe using that in place of the walnut for a mild custom look ! Hey Mr Scanlan want to cut some of this stuff on your laser ?????? ?? Thanks Schmiddy for the right up on the door panels !! I am starting completely from scratch on mine so all your info really has helped !

I just have a bad feeling about driving my 65 with those low slung tail lights being the only thing between my car and all the texting , attention deficit , people driving around these days !!! Has anyone mounted a 3rd brake light in the rear window either low or high with any success ?? Any pictures that might be floating around the web that you know of ? I have searched but nothing really specific to the first gen Riviera .

Does anyone have any idea as to who owns this car or what was used to create the silver inlay rather than the wood veneer on the door panel ? It's a really nice look without going too crazy custom I think !!!

I actually sent my original 65 column to Ididit a few years back and they used it to make a direct replacement ,,, the new column fits like a glove , although it lacks the chrome lower shielding the original had ... I would think they would have taken measurements for their inventory of columns ,,, maybe ????

How are the carpeted kick panels secured to the sides of the footwell ? 1 screw through the bottom hole of metal vent and the leading edge tucked into metal windlace fold ?? I may start asking dumber questions as the winter goes on , been 7 years since disassembly ... ( I did take pictures , but not this detail ) Thanks

Thank you for the information TheRev ! Sometimes just seeing a new idea is all it takes to work hard for all the answers ,and find the pieces and parts to put it together . There are literally pages of trim rings to browse through on the inter web , just have to order up a set ,or 4 , to get it right !!! As we all know , if you're in a hurry to build a Riviera , you've got the wrong hobby !!! When I get it figured out I will let whoever is following this know !!!!!

I just did a little measuring on the wheels I have , looks like a 3 inch deep trim ring will cover 99 percent of the outer rim . 90 bucks or so will buy 4 new stainless trim rings in that dimension . Would like to hear more on the Oldsmobile option though !
