Hello Boss302: When I read your original post I forwarded a copy to my friend Jim Aberts. He a Boss owner and a judge. Since he is not registered on the DF he invited me to share his response with you. Hopefully it does not repeat too much of the previous posts. Hope it helps you!

My name is Jim Aberts and Mike Jones forwarded your note to me with no name but I'll be glad to help.

Congralulations on your award. I am an AACA judge and I usually judge 34B at National meets so I can help. I also have a 1970 BOSS 302 that is a preservation car. I won both my First Junior and Senior at Hershey in 34B before there was class 36D but I have recently entered it in 36D at Hershey so I could judge 34B. I entered it in 36D this year but didn't take it because our daughter wanted to put our Mustang II in Driver Partcipation and we wanted to spend the day with her.

You can get your Senior in either class. Right now 34B and 36D both cover BOSS Mustangs. The AACA is encouraging owners to use 36D so that the performance classes can show more activity. I helped put class 36D together and encouraged the AACA for many years to add these performance classes.

Greg, I got my Master Editor notice last year by mail from Pat McCann around Christmas time. It's a cherished letter, I might add. He had mailed it on the 20th of December. Today being the 8th, you shouldn't have to wait too long. Good luck, Wayne

Sorry, It's the top award for our Region's Newsletter I publish every month. It doesn't usually get a lot of attention from most people, but let me tell you, it's the biggest thing I've ever gotten. I was 1 out of 18 editors nationwide last year that got the Master Editor Award. I was humbled to receive it. My '61 Chevrolet Impala SS won the Bomgardner Award in 2000. My '61 Chevrolet Impala won the Lewis Chevrolet Award in 2002. Pictures of the cars are on the AACA forum. Yes, I attended the banquet and I hope you plan to also. Believe me, they roll out the red carpet for the award winners. It was an experence that I never dreamed of happening once, much less twice!!! I'll be coming back to Philly again this year, not as a award winner but to cheer you guys. Maybe we'll meet.

Choc ~ Why am I not surprised that we have heard nothing from the "EXPERT?"

That alleged "EXPERT" is the AACA's Vice President - Class Judging, one Mr. Russell J. Fisher, as poor a National Director as I can remember having been a member of the AACA Board in my 40 years in the Club.

A brief history of Mr. Fisher's non involvement in this issue:

11/26 - I criticized Fisher for his lack of knowledge in the area for which he is VP.

12/1 - I asked where oh where is our VP - Class Judging.

12/2 - The AACA Executive Director in training [oldscarnut] responded to our concerns saying that the VP is away and not able to respond at the moment, but that he asked Steve to inform you that on his return he will answer your concern. Steve gave it his best efforts but there is not much chance of Fisher ever doing anything. Sorry Steve.

12/3 - Boss302 asked when the VP might return?

12/3 - Steve [oldscarnut] replied "This weekend." That was 4 weekends ago.

Now you know what happened to this discussion. It kicked around for a while waiting for our esteemed VP - Class Judging to get off of his dead butt and do his job. Fat chance of that ever happening.

So, good folk here on the forum, you can stop holding your breath. And you AACA members on here must realize by now what type of person you have elected to your Board of Directors. And yes, you have just had the opportunity to saddle the AACA with Mr. Fisher for another 3 years on the Board by voting for his re-election on the most recent ballot. Lordy, I hope you were smarter than that. This man should be shown the door for two reasons. The disservice he has done to AACA judging during his years as VP - Class Judging and the future damage he can and will do if he is returned to office.

Unfortunately with the current system of having to vote for exactly 7 Directors, it is very difficult to rid the Board of poorly performing Directors.

Until the method of voting is changed so that the members votes mean something, or your Board of Directors develops the cojones to NOT re-nominate bad Directors, the Club will have to operate under leaders like Russell J. Fisher.

And a Happy New Year to all of you, which can only be made better for AACA by not re-electing Mr. Fisher.

Of course this is just my opinion, based on actual happenings.

Howard, I and most others here understand you have issues with some people. It was not my intent to start any name calling by bringing this back up.I would hope there's more than one person that could answer these basic questions. The club seems to be run by committee, hopefully more than one person knows what's going on. As more and more 60's and 70's cars are shown the rules for classes must be kept current. This thread started with a basic question, someone should be able to answer. I also have a friend that had his car placed in class 36 that is not in the list of cars approved for this class. I'm giving credit that there is a reasonable answer, I was just hoping to have someone explain, not stir up any personal issues.

Doug ~ Your perception that AACA is run by committee may or may not be correct. I do believe that it continues to be policy, as established during my days as AACA President in the late 1980's, that questions from the membership should be answered by the person directly in charge of the area to which that question pertains. That is, in my humble opinion, the proper way of doing things. You can't have an entire "committee" making decisions and answering questions helter skerter.

So here we have a judging question. It should be answered by the VP - Class Judging. Our soon to be Exec Director Steve [oldscarnut] apparently felt that it was the job of the VP - Class Judging to respond to this question. The VP was contacted and apparently said something on the order of he would be back over the weekend and that he would respond then.

From that post of Decenber 3rd until yours of today, December 28th, we have had no response whatsoever from the VP. Now that is a clear statement of FACT, not a personal opinion. Had you not raised the question, I would never have even bothered to comment.

Please understand one thing. This is not a PERSONAL issue with the VP - Class Judging. This is an issue of the VP - Class Judging not upholding the responsibilies of his position. If this were the only instance of his failure to perform his duties as VP - Class Judging it could be overlooked. It is <span style="font-weight: bold">NOT</span> . That being the case, what is so wrong with calling his shortcomings to the attention of the membership. After all, they voted him into office. I share in the guilt because years ago I served on the nominations Committee that nominated him to run for the Board. My eyes have been opened. Shouldn't others?

Now let's see if the VP - Class Judging even reads the Judging Section and responds to either the original question or my criticism. If he does, I will offer a simple, Thank You.

PS: I suppose that if no one ever takes issue with anything, then we can all live happily ever after. That way nobody will be offended, but nothing will ever get accomplished either.

I'm restoring a 1939 4.5 Liter open wheel car that seems to meet the specs of that era.

You are talking about a race car, right? If so they must be certified with documentation to prove that they were in face a race car in the past.
