Hudsy Wudsy
For sale on C/L - Minneapolis is a '55 Packard Consolation. Apparently this what you got if you couldn't afford a Caddie: https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/cto/d/1955-packard-consolation/6584838496.html Edited May 18, 2018 by Hudsy Wudsy (see edit history) 2

Hudsy Wudsy
Geez, I'm embarrassed. Forty three views at this point and nobody finds it funny that the car is a Packard "Consolation". Packard never made a "Consolation", they made a "Constellation". "Constellation" as in stars, not "Consolation" as in you lost! Hudsy Wudsy
Maybe one of you can "console" me that my sense of humor isn't completely pointless...
RansomEli
Hudsy, I got it, right off the bat. Your humor is appreciated by at least one person. Love the comment about the re-chromed bumpers.
Guest
Great looking car, it's a crime to see it sitting out in the snow!
mike6024
Why does it say Clipper on it if it is a constellation or consolation? 1955 Packard Clipper Custom 4-door Sedan

In 1955, Packard was trying to position the Clipper as a separate make of car, not merely a Packard model. They were doing this, I understand, to try to restore the name "Packard" to more of the prestige status that it had lost. Clipper was to be their less expensive line of cars. (Some Packard experts here can tell us more.) "Consolation" is probably the name the seller got when he asked his 12-year-old nephew to advertise the car for him on the internet! It kind of grows on you. The snow is beautiful, it's the salt that's a killer!
Spinneyhill
Why is there snow around that car only? And why is there no photo of the engine bay? Is it empty?

Frank DuVal
Snow is not a problem, just solid form of rain. Old cars in the snow actually look good. It is driving them in snow with salt treatment on the roads that is the car killer of the east. I got the humor right away, Woodsey. ?
Hudsy Wudsy
What will rust that Packard body eventually won't be the snow, but the grasses that will grow around the car after the snow melts. When the grasses grow tall enough, they will lick the frame, floor boards and rocker panels every morning that there's a dew.
