Why is the Forum So Quiet on Weekends

Guest

Recommended Posts

Is it quiet because many people have other, and maybe better, things to do on the weekend, or is it because much of the posting is done at work? Just curious. smile.gif

We retired elderly pharts have time to waste 7 days a week. grin.gif

On weekends I usually jump on my computer between meals while working in the garage. I don't have on-line use of a computer in work. During the week I'm on it after work, or before bed, mostly downloading music.

Interesting question.

Many, but not all, forums slow down on weekends. Maybe it's the subject. Folks could be occupied out in the garage, although we all know they should have a computer out there too smile.gif

Quiet, yes, but at my house not the forum. On the weekend, my wife's on the tubes with the redneck Nascar boys, my kids are at school activities or other friends, and me?, I finally have the computer to myself to do as I like. I do my best(?) computer work on the weekend. If I post something enlightening(?), I can hang around all weekend to see how you intelligent(nuts) reply. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'm hardly ever surprised. Except one thing. When I posted the Hershey pictures I had to plead with everyone to share their thoughts or experiences at the big show. You guys hiding something from me? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Wayne

What is that song on the Imperial label, I can't make it out? Oh yea, anything my wife cooks up! </div></div>

Well aeroprince, I never realized you were a man of such keen curiosity and diverse interests!

That is a first series pressing on IMPERIAL of the legendary, larger than life, still underated to THIS day, composer non pareil, visionary bandleader, piano stylist extroadinaire, and vocalist who sang in the heavens - even while he was on earth and we were fortunate enough to bask in his majestic yet humble presence when he shared his hallowed time with us mortals...yes - Yes - YES!

I hope I have answered your question, as i have endeavored to do so to the best of my questionable abilities.

As to the remainder of your post :

"<span style="font-style: italic">Oh yea, anything my wife cooks up!</span>"

Sadly, it belies the fact that you are not nearly as discriminating with your consumption of foodstuffs as you are with satieting your pangs of musical hunger! smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

Wow! You mean Charlie Brown from Peanuts sings too?! wink.gif I understand from my eye doctor he can always tell when we retirees start to 'surf'. Eye appointments and lens strenght goes up! I usually check the 'threads' on a nightly basis just to see who the man in the Moon is bashing now.

I think, in my humble opinion, that postings, like everything else, go in cycles. There is a surge of posting over an event or triggered by something and it generates a cascade of responses, and original thought. Late fall is here, shows are closed, clubs are hybernating planning the spring events, cars are being stored like nuts for the winter...it gets quiet. But there is still people posting, looking for information, selling cars ... doing things they wish to share.

It is good to see you posting again, Howard.

I'll admit to using the work computer to surf. I normally get in 30 min to an hour early and take my lunch at my desk so that I can surf. I have internet at home, but it is so dang slow I usually don't bother. I occassionally cheat a little and check in when I'm suppose to be working, but I have to be careful.

Ditto to what Amphicar said.

I'm self employed - work at home for a living doing computer work. Usually the last thing I want to do is sit in front of the computer too long on the weekend. Only as long as it takes to have my first cup of coffee in the morning.

You described your record very eloquently, but sorry to say it is slightly behide my times. I'm into mostly late 50's & early 60's. This is what I love about this forum.....all the funny remarks after the post. There seems to be alot of talent in the posters on this AACA forum. Even Dave@Moon is very creative in his postings and has me laughing from time to time. It's just a great place to visit!!

You're right Howard, I'm usually off the web on weekends too. My weekend schedule is like this.

Summer time - car shows and events.

Winter time - out in the shop working on cars.

One weekend a month - Wearing a multi colored outfit while making money for working on cars and spending it at Hershey.

Same for me. I'm on the computer all week, so turning in on and waiting for dialup on the weekend is some form of torture!

However, since I'm the boss, the flunky, the janitor and everything else, there's really no one to question the time I spend on this forum during the workweek.

Randall, now don't take this wrong but you are a sick individual! Love snow, love shoveling? Not on your life. The only time I like it is when it melts! I hope you guys keep all the beautiful snow in your neck of the woods and leave us alone! grin.gif

I am having sooooo much fun myself this weekend. Just got done loading and unloading 1300#'s of shelving for a room here in Hqts. Next, I have to get them upstairs and build ten new racks for storing club items. Such is the life of your new "executive". grin.gif

The phone just rang and I took a new membership, the sun is shinning and it is a beautiful day afterall. I hope everyone is having a great, happy and healthy weekend and while I am at it, Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Steve, Who's sick now? Have you looked closely at your contract. You're not even techinically on the job yet and you're working 7 days a week. I need to talk to you, son. I know the weather is a lot better in Pa then up North where you're from, but that doesn't mean you have to work all the time. Some pretty weather is meant to be for driving the country side and blowing out the old iron. I said blow OUT, not UP! <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Wayne

Wayne, what contract? Besides, I have nothing else to do! Iron is still in Indiana/Illinois and other parts! Seriously, whether it is Bill, me or the staff, we all put in extra hours around here. It goes with the territory and love of the club. Hopefully, all the early work I get done will pay dividends in a few weeks when my responsibilities will become a wee bit bigger. Now what is really wrong with that Randall guy, I don't imagine YOU have a great love for the white stuff! grin.gif

Steve, I told a friend last week, "one big advantage to 12 inches of snow on the highway, it keeps the "sunshine" drivers home, so "we" can get our job done without worrying about all the paperwork involved with running over yet another 4 wheeler." <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Wayne

You guys should see Alabama Father Ron Barnett here in Cheyenne in the snow. smirk.gif

He and Sally are here for a visit and to take care of a little project we had in Salt Lake City. We got back just ahead of the storm, and are now sitting by the fire watching football.

Ron is driving Big Red, a humongous Ford 1 ton, crew cab, diesel, duelly ----- with <span style="font-weight: bold">2 wheel</span> drive. shocked.gif We expect them to be here a while before heading back to Alabama. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif The good thing is that his truck is parked in our driveway, so we only have 1/2 a driveway to shovel. Big Red covers the rest. grin.gifgrin.gif

Hi, Dan...

Just a question...If the Wyoming Winds blow leaves into Nebraska (a reliable source told me that some years ago.), then, the snow eventually winds up on Sharon's side of the driveway in PA. Just a calculated guess...

AHHH!, To be in Cheyenne by the fireplace sipping some very expensive, very exclusive liquore from some exotic country I've never heard of. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Yes, I believe I could learn to love snow, at least until the brew ran out. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> Wayne

snow. is that the stuff those people play on in the winter olympics? You mean it really exists? I thought it was just a made for t.v. thing. I don't understand the shoveling references or the driveway thing, are these code words and phrases? Boy I've got a lot to learn about this old car forum stuff, I really feel out of place not knowing all the secret phrases and handshakes. confused.gif

I guess I'll get my driveway shovel and snow some fireplaces eh? grin.gif
