Buick35
While sitting on a bench today looking at all the vehicles in the parking lot I was wondering what it would look like fifty years from now. Paul Dobbin
To see for yourself, drive 50 miles north to the Villages. You'll find 140,000 people driving golf cars, both gas and electric. Custom cars too, like a Model A, a Jeep, a Cadillac, a 34 Ford, a 40 Ford, a 55 Chevrolet, a 57 Chevy, a Mercedes 450 SL, what ever you want on a Golf Cart Chassis and made of fiberglass. Some are even enclosed and look like Smart Cars with A/C. They have a dual road system, one for Golf Cars and one for the rest of us. Parking lots too. Edited June 21 by Paul Dobbin added the Mercedes SL (see edit history)

Eliminating food deserts in the first one. What's he talk about Wilis?!
rocketraider
Food desert indicates limited or no access to grocery stores/fresh food supplies without traveling outside one's own neighborhood. Convenience stores and fast food joints don't count. ### What does this bode for those of us who intentionally live away from cities? As usual the people pushing this agenda erroneously assume everyone lives in cities.
Bhigdog
History is littered with the remains of attempts at utopian communities. What always happens is reality happens and living with out modern necessities wears thin real quick.......bob 3
Bhigdog
An exception might be the Amish community. The difference is they are bound together by an actual and very strong faith that,s taught and nurtured from birth. That said there is an awful lot of fudging and work arounds going on while remaining true to the "simple life".........bob

The only benefit I see from a 15 Minute City is it never takes longer then that to leave.

60FlatTop
Fifty years from now an old man will quietly walk out to a vine covered, locked shed, and show at young man his secret hidden treasure. A young man with him will stare wide eyed a the reality of a true urban legend. "It's a V8, RWD, ICE car" says the old man "It threw a P0420 code back in the late '20s. There were no longer any C. A. R. B. Cats available for this model but it purrs like nothing you ever heard." "Just let me rub the key fob battery with my hands to get it warm. Shhhhh. It's still OBD2 so they haen't broadcast a disable signal like they did on the OBD3 ICE cars." You know, I think I have have learned too much about this stuff. I was on equal footing in a conversation with my nephew at the Father's Day picnic.
