EmTee
I like the sculptured rear end of the '71 a bit more than that of the flat '69 - '70. Probably need to re-install the A/C belt before attempting that 'recharge'....
deac
I like these cars. The seller has a "priced for a quick sale", which if it is in the condition the pictures show won't last long! The AC belt has removed which leads me to believe it's more than just a recharge. Moreover I don't like vinyl tops because the can hide rust. The steering is wrapped so how cracked is wheel? I presume it's has a 400ci engine backed by a TH400 trans and 10 bolt rear end which is I what I had in my 71 Formula Firebird. It's a strong powertrain!

The wheel should be a soft vinyl, so cracking wouldn't be an issue. I have, however, seen some where the color is worn off in spots revealing black underneath. The pictures show this one has a black wheel anyway. My guess is the wheel is probably fine. It's a Model J, so it has the 400 CID engine. The SJ came with the 455.
58L-Y8
The refined G-Body 1971-'72 Pontiac Grand Prix restyling imparted an elegant sophistication it somewhat lacked the first two model years.
Gearheadengineer
These have the longest fan shrouds I’ve ever seen! They always make me laugh a bit. Looks like a nice car for the price.
TAKerry
Def not perfect but a great car for the price. You could do a lot worse.
rocketraider
Owned a 1970 J many years ago. Nice car. I traded it on a 1978 Toyota Supra and soon missed the interior space of the GP. Most GP owners were unaware their cars had a ratchet shifter if equipped with automatic transmission and console. That feature turned a car the size of a GP into a whole lotta fun! TAKerry
I would imagine the ratchet shifter would have been an option. I have one sitting on the shelf someplace.
rocketraider
Kerry, I can't find any firm documentation but pretty sure every automatic floorshift 69-72 GP had it. Possibly 73-77. The giveaway is look on the passenger side of the shifter gate. If it has "3-2-1" cast into that area, car has the ratchet shifter. Also look for an elongated hole in the shift lever's plastic slider dust shield. Pontiac also put these in GTO, TransAM and Formula, and GrandAM. Only giveaway on those is the slider plate's hole.

TAKerry
I looked at it a bit and from what I saw the ratchet shifter was an option, I have not found the code for it yet. I have both standard and ratchet shifters on the outside they look alike, but they definitely are different on the inside. There is a heavy spring that lets the one move left and right, hence the ratcheting action that the standard shifter does not have.
EmTee
That '69 above had to be a scam. The ad has been removed.
kingrudy
Great looking car at a nice price. This car would keep me happy for a long time. I much prefer these than the boat tail GP.
