Buick Emblem - 40s/50s Horn Button? Need Age, Model and Use

I need to identify this item. It is clear plastic, 3 1/2" diameter, with the 1948-52 style Buick logo back painted / plated in gold, silver, red and blue. The logo looks great but all the rest of the piece is transparent. Looks like a horn button face but all the ones on Google are either colored all over or show a model name. TIA for any help.

Nobody? I have been told on Facebook that this was designed to fit over a colored plastic bezel with a chrome outer ring and used as a horn button but cannot find a good photo or specific year / model use, any idea?

I switched this to the Pre War group as it appears to be from the earlier generations of cars.

Without any photo, most guesses are going to be just a shot in the dark.

  I have these two steering wheel center buttons  but don't know what years.  Looks to me like someone or time removed the paint on yours.

Now that helps. What I have looks like the center part only which was attached over a colored background. It does not look like what I have was ever painted on the back.

It looks like what you have is the top overlay that was used with different layers underneath depending on model, year, etc.

You are correct, this was answered in the "What is it" forum. The clear piece I have is the center, mounted on top of a textured brass disc and surrounded by the chrome / plastic outer housing. Thanks for your help!

I apologize. The photos did not show up when I looked at your original post. Looks like early to late 1940s to me, probably '47 or earlier.
