StillOutThere
Had a '56 Four Hundred some 35 years ago. Most incredibly comfortable interstate grand touring at 85 mph I've ever experienced among many. That surely looks like an opportunity in my book.
John_S_in_Penna
What is this color really like? In most of the pictures, it looks more orange. In one, it looks pinkish. Is it more orange than the typical "coral" color seen in the 1950's? (Picture below shows coral- colored 1957 Cadillac for comparison.) auburnseeker
Wasn't the Packard for sale this spring? I seem to recall a twin to it for sale posted here in very similar original condition and color. If so, can't believe it hasn't sold. That looks really clean compared to alot of the crap for sale out there.

The actual color on the Packard on offer is a very "rich" or "bold" pink. Non-metallic. Being a '50s color, it is not inappropriate for the times and being Packard it is appropriately strong in pigments. http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?type=paint&paint=58365&ditzler=50409&syear=1955&smanuf=Packard&smodel=&sname=Rose Quartz&rows=50 This whole page is a bit "washed out" (weak) https://www.autocolorlibrary.com/pages/1955-Packard.html

Colors are Scottish Heather and White The Craigslist and Hemmings ads were deleted on March 1, so perhaps it was sold. auburnseeker
Yes it was. Surprising to see two very similar cars come up in even similar shape and colors and even price in such a short time. I could understand it more with common cars of the era but one has to admit the survival rate of these is pretty low in that shape.
60s GM Fan
I think the 55 looks slightly better than the 56. I'd jump on it but I don't have space.
JRHaelig
And I was just thinking that the '56 looked a little better. Doesn't it have a bit more overhang above the headlights? Either one is on my short list. That Scottish Heather with either white or ivory is a great combo.
60s GM Fan
God I keep going back to this car. Its a very good deal. My issue is where am I going to put it? She'd pair well with my 55 CDV.

Different engines also.
kingrudy
Absolutely beautiful car at a very reasonable price IMO. Normally Pink would not be my first choice in cars, but it looks great on this car. 55 and 56 are my favorite Packards and the fact that it is a coupe makes this auto perfect. The ad states that this is a custom color, but I noticed that there is a shade of Pink on the color chart that is posted. In the photos the pic of the rear of the car in the garage looks definitely Pink, but the pic right below that looks to be coral. Either way I'd drive it.

Hans1965
The photo from the rear end looks very strange. Although taken from the right , the left taillight and exhaust opening of the bumper look 30% larger than the right one. How can that be? Mobile phone mystery? However, in another one, the car looks normal. The camera angle must be the cause. Frank Wilkie
Did this Packard have the self leveling system in it? I had a 1956 Packard that had the leveling system and the local mechanic screwed it up. He forgot to disengage it before he put it up on the lift... Hans1965
I keep looking at this car, too. 13.5 is a fantastic price. Really wonder why nobody grabs it. But looks like the seller is not an easy one. So much car for an excellent price! I cannot buy them all.

Most 400's did. I would have to deflect to a Packard expert if it was optional or not. For 1955.
B Jake Moran
The sellers negative comments always turn me off. 6T-FinSeeker
On 11/23: Seller relisted on Facebook: 1955 Packard 400 2-door Hardtop in South Elgin, IL - $12,500 - Call: 630 946 75 zero two (phone # from old Craigslist ad) Link: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/570469074884614/1955-Packard-400 Seller's Description: 1955 Packard 400 2-door Hardtop condition: good cylinders: 8 cylinders transmission: automatic odometer: 65,000 paint color: custom title status: clean Here we go again-the gentleman who bought the car called me today, forfeited his deposit and pulled out. So once again I’m selling my 1955 Packard. Rust free, runs and drives fine. Power windows, power steering and brakes, all gauges and lights, power antenna-all in good working condition The car needs an exhaust since it deteriorated from sitting, the radio powers up with no sound other than static and the vacuum hoses for the wiper need to be replaced. This car draws a crowd everywhere I take it. It still sports it’s original 352 V8 engine and automatic transmission The car has a clean title in my name and comes with an owners manual and a factory service manual, a spare oil filter and a pint of fresh touch up paint. Asking $12500 No scammers, no low ballers, test drives only with cash in hand. No offers via messenger are considered-I only talk money in person. kingrudy
Maybe there is more than meets the eye here. Beautiful car at what seems like a very reasonable price that doesn't sell. Part of it may be the wrong time of year, as garage space is at a premium.
