cudaman
The ring with the script "S" in it appears to be a Studebaker emblem. My dad was a child of the depression, he saved everything, he even saved used, bent nails in baby food jars.
supercub
The crank may have gone to a phonograph. Could fetch some money on ebay for any old stuff.

sagefinds
That little wheel and tire has a gear on it,it may be off one of those tethered racers powered by an airplane engine. Those things seemed to be big bucks for awhile.

Rivguy
I can understand why your Dad kept this stuff. I have a similar collection of auto/motorcycle/misc hardware and nuts and bolts.! If you can identify what something is, and belongs to, you could list it on E Bay. If not, it will end up in one of those tubs of tossed in odds and ends at a swap meet. Some real treasures can be found there if you are patient and willing to get your fingers greasy!

One in the condition of yours is worth about 10 percent of that in my honest opinion. By the time shipping is added you may be over the value of the the toy. Like with automobiles, Condition is everything with toys. Edited August 11, 2022 by Dandy Dave (see edit history)
