rjp
Is there any replacement bearing for a 1920 Buick front end, timken?
Terry Wiegand
Can you get the name and number from the existing bearing(s)? I have a Bearing Interchange Book and can help you out if you have the number. Hubert_25-25
If you have numbers, Terry may be able to help. These are numbers from Buick. You might also want to look at the drawing of the bearings below and match the size to your bearings. That will verify the numbers for the bearing as an assembly. The last drawing is the insert that I made to enable use of roller bearings in place of the outer ball bearings for a Buick Standard front wheel. You could do the same for the inner bearings, but it will require making an insert for the inside and the outside of the bearing. Hugh
Terry Wiegand
The numbers from the Buick Master Parts List are not going to be of any help with regard to the Bearing Interchange Manual. What is needed is the actual number that is on the bearing cone proper. This number will be an NDH (New Departure Hyatt) and the number assigned to that particular bearing. The numbers in the Master Parts List are what Buick Motor Company assigned to each particular bearing for their identification purposes. If you can give me the bearing number, I can more than likely give you a bearing identification number from another bearing manufacturer that will interchange. Terry Wiegand
It seems as though I spoke incorrectly earlier. The bearings in the front wheels of a 1920 Buick would be identified as ND (New Departure). New Departure and Hyatt did not merge until the middle 1960's. Everything else in my previous posting should be factually correct. Terry Wiegand South Hutchinson, Kansas AACA Life Member #947918
Bloo
You might find that the New Departure number is the last 4 digits of the GM number. That may not hold true here, but it is worth looking at.
