B Jake Moran
I hate sellers that do that. On craigslist sellers put in $1 because they know people search by price a lot. This guy purposely puts $3400 in ad to get you to look.
kingrudy
IMO you can build a car out of it's price range. I like these station wagons, but seems like a steep price for this car.
Stooge
The first line of the ad says 'not $3400' . i believe facebook marketplace has some sort of maximum price cap for "used" cars and suggests the price of the car based on some formula, so the seller probably just leaves the last digit out of whatever their price is and states it in the ad. Nothing malicious about it, in my opinion. Edited February 22, 2021 by Stooge (see edit history)
auburnseeker
Alot of those facebook ads have purposely misleading prices though and nothing to do with just dropping a 0. I seem to find more ads with the wrong prices than with the right ones. Though one thing i notice with facebook is if they finally fix something so it works better or at one point they used to list under the item thumbnails, when they were listed, they change it back to the old format so you are pulling up ads that are over a year old in some cases not knowing it until you open the ad. Should be a 30 day time limit, that they then have to be renewed. They would be wise to find someone that has actually used marketplace to consult with when they design new features for it.
John_S_in_Penna
Yes, the text of the ad says the asking price is $34,500. This means the car, with what I think is incorrect upholstery, is priced too high. Here's more of the ad, copied for everyone's reference: "NOT $3,400 Nice Rare 54 Buick Century Wagon 425 CI, 400 turbo, Air, Nice Wide White Radial Tires, Wire Wheels, Nice Glass, Paint, Interior, and Chrome. Overall Good Vehicle. $34,500 OBO, or possible trade up for (good) 66 Nova, 63-67 Corvette, 64-65 GTO, or 55 Chev. Please No Junk! Please "Call" for a honest description and more details. Thanks, Larry 615-two89-two777" Edited February 23, 2021 by John_S_in_Penna (see edit history)
