RivNut
WIX which makes filters for NAPA (including the 1049 NAPA Gold). I haven't compared prices, but I get WIX filters at O'Reilly's which is closer to home. Lots of others out there that are good, but some are bad. Do a Google search for oil filter ratings.

kegart
At one time I would have agreed with you Winston. AC used to spend more for the raw materials to make a filter than competitors had in the finished product. AC is long gone and gm service parts buys from who knows where. telriv
PF24 is the short version. I like using the 1049 because it has more oil capacity & filters more oil. Just my thoughts.
60FlatTop
I just picked up two NAPA WIX oil filters and a 10MM brake bleeder wrench this morning. Things sure change.
