While a beautiful one may sell for 15-20,  I still think even with it's flaws you would be hard pressed to find one as good much under 10G right now.  It's the old case where the bottom is higher than you expect and often not nearly as far from the top of the market as you would think.  It's the case with many cars.   This one was listed at 2700 and is sold.

This outfit is in Crookston, MN and can be found on Ebay under "salvage parts cars". They do not sell parts off whole vehicles and are pretty adamant about that.

The '60's are 60 years old now. The model differences become a little foggy in the collective memory. The LeSabre and Electra are more different than they appear to be.

There can be a lot of deferred maintenance on the cars not seriously driven. I bought my Electra in 2001 with intentions of parting it out. I saw there was a nice car in there so I did the initial. obvious repairs first. Then worked away at the un-obvious stuff with a couple of big bites, but still an average of $400-$600 per year. A lot of them don't get those kind of rations.

Right now I have a little deferred paintwork to do and I wore through the front seat while driving about 1200 miles per year. The swatch of new upholstery looks so good I will have to redo the front and rear seats. That will eat up $3,000 over the winter or next year if I do them without the extra screws.

I see quite a few of the '60's for sale and usually compare mine. While I am alive and know the condition and what I have done I would be at the $20,000 mark if I thought about selling. With me dead, I have told my wife to move it for 8 or 9 thousand, a great buy for someone but I ain't planning to go soon.

Unscrewed Electra interior.

  • 3 weeks later...

All I have left from my dad's 60 LeSabre is the dash clock that I quickly grabbed off the dash before he parted ways with it to the junker in 1971 or so.  Thinking of wiring it up to be a desk clock since it looks like a real jewel anyways or mount it next to my old 62 Healy 3000 chrome winged MK II front bonnet emblem ... All I have left of that car too 😪
