Primer sealer

I'm using epoxy primer,2x filler primer on my Buick. Do I still need a sealer primer? I'm using single stage urethane paint. Thanks for any advice,Greg.

You don't have to use it but you will get better paint adhesion if you use one.

I use epoxy primer over bare metal, then a urethane high build primer, then a urethane sealer, then my single stage urethane.  I’m sure others use something different (or maybe similar) but that’s what I use.

It's best to ask the paint manufacturer. They've done the testing and  know their product materials better than anyone. They can tell you what is compatible, and why.

Use the sealer, It makes all the difference in the world..

The foremost use of sealer is to give a single color base for the color coat to cover. Normally when you finish sanding the primer-surfacer (with guide coat) there are slight spots showing metal and other colors of primer under the primer-surfacer. Sealing the body covers all these other colors and spot primes the bare metal, to give a uniform color base on which to apply the color coat.

Frank is spot on. Use it after wet sanding.
