Guest EliCha
Thank you , do you know if it was diesel powered or gas ?
auburnseeker
My guess would be gas, but I'm not sure if there is a way to tell.
Bloo
That is a 1961-1965 dodge "sweptline" truck chassis. http://www.sweptline.com/hist/61-64.html Some info about the bigger trucks is here: http://www.sweptline.com/hist/bigtrucks.html Im guessing the bus body was locally built. I have never seen a school bus body in the USA that looks like that. Diesel would be unusual for that time. It is almost certainly gasoline powered. mike6024
That's got the same grill as my '64 Dodge D100 pickup. Same turn signals and headlights and hood. That much looks identical to me at least.
nzcarnerd
I think it says FARGO on the front - commonly used for export Mopar trucks.
Fleek
I agree it says FARGO. A Dodge in disguise for import.
Bloo
Or domestic, if you happen to be in Canada.
nzcarnerd
I knew that the FARGO and DeSoto names were used for along time in Turkey, long after Chrysler moved out of the area, but I see from this article that the company making them went out of business in 2015. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Askam_(trucks
nzcarnerd
More on the subject in a blog, but a post that predates the 2015 Turkish company closure. http://carzhunt.blogspot.co.nz/2014/07/plymouth-is-dodge-dodge-is-chrysler.html
8E45E
As others have clearly stated, its on a Dodge truck chassis, with a Fargo-badged front end which was supplied in "less cowl & windshield" configuration. The bus body builder has incorporated the cowl & windshield in their design, and there should be a tag on it somewhere stating the builder's name. I appreciate the quality that went into this particular body with what appears to be side windows that lower completely, and no exposed rivets or corrugated stiffeners running along the sides, making for a nice, clean appearance. padgett
Caption refers to Beirut, Lebanon so Turkish built would fit.
