  1. I found this page with a link. 92 Trofeo VIC Repair? - Oldsmobile Forums 1990, 1991, 1992 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo Instrument Cluster- Repair Cost only $249 USD includes all shipping!!
  2. He's referring to the color CRT. Like the Reatta except its in color and not monochrome.
  3. This was exact problem I was experiencing after a car wash! I suspect that water is getting into the window frame and running down onto the speakers. After a week of no rain or wash, the faint audio problem would disappear.
  4. If you installed Infinity Kappas like I did, I kept having this problem on the driver side. That black box wiring thing was hard to find a place to keep without getting in the path of the window glass roller assembly. It kept yanking the wire out of the terminal. No matter how it looked, kept doing it. Would cause static and low audio on that speaker and sometimes the others. At the time, I assumed it was the radio brain capacitor everyone was talking about. I had the capacitors replaced, and it still does it occasionally. This time seems to be when it's high humidity//raining outside. I will check the wiring again sometime this year.
  5. BTW, what kind of freon cans were you trying to add to the system? I hope you weren't mixing R12 and R134? Also, R134 capacity is 80-90% LESS than R12 sticker amount. You also have to suck in proper oil. The pressure switch will have to be tuned to adjust for the lower R134 pressure or it will kick off early and/or also cause that low freon warning.
  6. That sounds about right. I'm going through the same DIY with my Fiero. If the system is discharged, you or Mac's should immediately look at the Orifice Tube and see what condition it's in to check if the compressor died from black death. That will help you make an informed decision on what to start replacing. In my case, the R134 retrofit from prior operators didnt add enough lubricant so my compressor burned up. The flow is compressor > condenser > orifice tube > evaporator. So the orifice tube helps protect the evaporator and compressor from getting this black gunk of metal shavings. At minimum, you should replace the accumulator (contains dessicant lasts 7 years max) "thermos shaped thing", and orifice tube (since the system is empty anyway). Worst case scenario, they should also throw in the condenser since that can clog prior from the gunk first in the flow path. Don't really know till the orifice is inspected first. You should also confirm they will be replacing the HIGH and LOW pressure switches on the back of the new or reman'd compressor. Mine blew out of the snap ring plug. Or they are too brittle to transplant to the new compressor. They range around 15-29 each. You should also replace the accumulator pressure switch (think Reatta has one too). I also hope the quote includes a thorough flush of the lines. ACKITS.com Automotive Air Conditioning Parts & Equipment.: Auto AC Compressor Failure (Black Death)
  7. E027 potential from DAVES89 you may look into AFTER fixing the ignition issues. Might have set well before this latest event. http://forums.aaca.org/f116/e027-code-gone-but-274126.html
  8. 42 surging is a sign of ignition coil failure and is a shared ignition code between multiple GM fuel management systems. For example, a Fiero ignition module can be working fine but then all of a sudden cause flames to shoot out the tailpipe throwing a code 42 too. An ignition coil can even test good at a parts store and still be intermittent. I just found a Buick tech video talking about the same stalling issues specifc to the 3800. I'm also shocked that Buick recognized how crappy the Magnavox coils were. Youtube won't allow direct links to specific video start time. starts at 21:56 http://youtu.be/aeV6Ta2gTjE?t=21m56s This page also offers tips on testing the ignition system with an ohmmeter. If your coils are unknown age, replace them. http://www.justanswer.com/buick/4wnwy-buick-le-sabre-1988-buick-le-sabre-3800.html
  9. Thanks for sharing. This is a good thread to document the accessories. Puzzled how these are different from the owners manual covers and why some logos are portrait vs. landscape.
  10. Great tip. Also work the same for 889's? Would be great due to diesel exhaust.
  11. So my 88 has this interesting door gap. The hinges don't sag and there's no sign of rubbing on the bottom. So how can I tighten this door gap inward so that it looks and closes like the low mileage car that it should be. Is the problem with the door latch or the striker bolt?
  12. You know I think you might be on to something. The seatback seems to have some warpage in the frame or a loose seatbolt causing it to twist. I was noticing that when trying to push it forward how the console side of the seat was twisting compared to the seat rails.
  13. Hmm, interesting. I took a few good violent whacks to get the seat to go forward. Now I no longer have to try and clean the back passenger side from the driver door. I now see that pendulum thing. Nothing is binding it, just seems to have a tendency to pull foward like it doesnt have the proper balance. ;( Thanks everyone for the confirmation.
  14. Unless I haven't found it, is there a way to pull the passenger seatback forward to get into the back compartments? Has anyone tried converting it to do so? I understand that heavy braking might cause an empty passenger seat to fly forward, but looking to see if anyone has worked around that.
  15. I'm a native of Mulvane and Derby...and never heard that one before.
  16. He has a set of what?
  17. If you need to buy tools for your Reatta, this would be a good way to get an extra discount. 20% off one item. I need three items, so I'm going to print off three of the coupons and go pick up each item in the store each day. You could get AC vacuum pump, set of manifold gauges, wrenches. etc. Extra Savings Coupons
  18. We have a new celebrity! Congrats! Now don't let the new fame go to your head!
  19. I had this problem in my Acura. The remote key fob has this "feature" that if you press and hold the unlock button in your pants, all windows and sunroof roll down and open. I had two days of Seattle rain to deal with. I "thought" I had wicked up all the water until I took the car for a drive and could hear a pond of water sloshing back and forth from front to back in the side rails and tub. I ended up taking my Bissell steamer and sucking out over 4 gallons of water!!! Luckily, no long term damage. You need to take out the interior to assess the damage. The interior door skins are also made of cardboard material. Letting water sit on those will make them bubble up.
  20. I'd probably never upgrade to passenger seat but would be interested in a driver side replacement bezel to replace the OEM dented one.
  21. How great is this? An owner news piece for Reatta owner featured on SFGate. Not sure if Paula is a member of the forum, but looks like she keeps her Reatta in excellent shape. 1990 Buick Reatta - SFGate
  22. Yep I know and that's the GM style that functions best. The 88/89 has this odd one I've never seen before. I'd like to switch it out. Seems this Somerset version might work too.

What about the tape player? Someone know how to make a MP3 jack drilled into the corner of the tape box?
  24. I want the Somerset digital dash and the turn signal stalk. The Reatta turn signal stalk without an OFF feature is really aggravating to use. Either have to tap the brake or reach around the steering wheel and turn off the main switch.
