  1. After owning 5 Riviera's (now down to one...a 92), I found, bought and am now a proud owner of a 91 Reatta (found locally here in MA).
  2. Same here as Lamar and Paul. Clicking on December's front page brings it up no prob....get 404 error if I click on January's.
  3. Don't blurt out the ending of the story...I haven't received my bugle yet!!!
  4. RPO = Regular Production Options. In general, they are the code values that describe particular parts/paint/mechanics that were to be applied to a car at the start/during its "build" cycle..... whether it was to have bucket seats, air conditioning, power brakes, blue metallic paint, turbo vs naturally aspirated V6, etc, etc, etc...(as examples).
  5. This is what I found re: the RPO codes Marck mentioned. Granted, the RPO book I'm using is from est year 2000 so take it for what it's worth: A80 - adjuster front seat back, power driver, reclining A82 - restraint, head AS3 - seat, right BG4 - trim override, interior R1N - module, Japaneese (don't know what this is?)
  6. I've come into possession of the Monroney sticker (new car dealer sales window sticker) for a 1995 Riviera. Exterior is Black, interior is Dark Ruby Red with console. The vin is 1G4GD2218S4733179. If this your Riv, PM me and I will gladly mail the sticker to you.
  7. Very good idea...should be the first task....didn't think of that....
  8. Do you know what the specific codes are? I have a 91 manual so I can look them up for you if you know what they are. IMO, even though it obviously will need diagnostics, for the price and since its close to you, you should snap it up. The owner also sounds a tad fustrated with the Riv so you might be able to get it for a little less than asking price. Seems like alot of "electronics" have already been thrown at it...wiring harness, sensors, computer (which one?), etc... so after purchase have it checked by a techee for a solution and piece of mind. The Riv looks to be in pretty good shape 200+K miles. This will be your 2nd 7th generation purchase....need to bite the bullet and join the ROA!
  9. There is a growing trend of ROA members buying 7th generation Rivieras (including me...I currently have a 1992 and sold another 1992 a couple of years ago to a fellow ROA member). They're still very reasonably priced today for 19-26 year old Rivieras that sold close to $30k back in 1992/1993. If you ever need a part number for your 1993 contact me as I have a 1986-1993 Riviera & Reatta Parts & Illustration Catalog.
  10. I also want to thank Mike and Nancy for their assistance as I'm now able to login (Bugle looks great by the way!). I too had never registered my email account with the BCA but now I'm good to go..........
  11. You might try www.car-part.com which is a North American database of junk yards. I entered your particular data and the database came back with 20 pages of about 30 junk yards per page that say they have your part. Call a few directly to find out condition, price, shipping, etc...
  12. Reading from the pages of the Parts & Illustration Catalog....Left hand is front, right hand is rear. Cast manifold was on 2nd design of the 1992 Riviera model L27 engine.
  13. I looked it up in the 1988-1993 Parts & Illustration Catalog for Riviera/Reatta: Left hand exhaust manifold part# 24501727 good for 1988-1992 LN3 & L27 3.8L engines Right hand exhaust manifold part# 25537100 good for 1991-1992 L27 3.8L engine only Right hand exhaust manifold part# 25531722 good for 1988-1990 LN3 3.8L engine only
  14. The criteria I used was "86-92 Riviera" and 4 yards popped up: 86 All Hours Auto USA ID 92 All Hours Auto USA ID 86 Budget Auto Parts USA MN 90 Giancola Auto Wrecking USA NJ They all list phone #'s and IMO its always best to just call directly.
  15. Yes, its a hard copy catalog that Buick dealer service departments used just before on-line capabilities became popular. Its over 5 inches thick with illustrations and part numbers for every part (and I mean every part!) on the 1986-1993 Riviera and 1988-1991 Reatta. I bought it on evil bay because at the time I owned two 92 Rivieras (I'm now down to one) and was looking for a 91 Reatta. Try www.car-part.com as one of the junk yards just might have a decent one.
  16. I looked up the battery tray in the 1986-1993 Riviera/Reatta Parts & Illustration Catalog. It states that this part is the same for all 1986 thru 1992 (not 1993) Rivieras and all 1988 thru 1991 Reattas. Part # is 20637835. I checked www.car-part.com (North American junk yard database) for a battery tray for the above years and about a half a dozen yards were listed. You will need to call them as to condition, though.
  17. Jim, I believe the orginal dealer window stickers are called "Monroney Stickers"...named after Almer Stillwell "Mike" Monroney, US Senator from Oklahoma. He sponsored the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958 which called for new car pricing info being fully disclosed to the purchaser in written form...hence the window sticker.
  18. Bryan...thanks for the compliment! I have yet to see another of this style Riv at any of my local area cruise-ins (MA, RI). The only time I do see 4 to 5 together is at each year's ROA National. There were only two (one being mine) at the BCA National this year and only one at last year's National, if I remember correctly (mine).
  19. Click on the "Buick - General" title and then on the first sticky "2013 BCA National Meet, South Bend, Indiana". Mike and Nancy Book have listed some very comprehensive info on the 2013 meet. I'm sure more will come between Ocotober, 2012 and June, 2013. By the way, why haven't you been receiving a Buick Bugle?
  20. Everyone's "Buicks in the Fall" pictures are certainly of calendar quality! I agree that there should be a thread like this every year. John..particularly great pic's of the GS within the fall leaves. Canton, MA is just 5 to 8 miles southwest of Boston and part of the South Shore/Cape Cod region. Western MA is already full of colors. Lamar.."Black Beauty" looks great. Sorry to hear that its been sold, but I'm sure its in good hands. There are very few BCA and even ROA members that collect this 7th generation "Baby Riv". You know I happen to be one of them (I've owned two).
  21. Went to an All Auto and Truck Show in Canton, MA today (10/20/12). As you can see, we don't have peak colors quite yet...should happen within the next 7-10 days, though.
  22. I see you picked out my 92 Rivi...good eye Mr Earl! There were a good number of Riviera's attending.
  23. Why scrap the Riv...buy another IPC. 1990 through 1993 Riviera and 1990 through 1991 Reatta IPC's will fit your 1992 Riviera. A rebuilt costs about $100-$125 on average....usually a few on evilbay and a number of Reatta Forum folks have them for sale often.
  24. John, As I mentioned to you at the BCA National in NC, I will be attending the Upstate NY Chapter's regional meet in Troy, NY.
  25. The Riv belongs to ROA member Bob Jamieson of NC. The Riv is black over gold. Ed & Nathaniel; you guys might remember seeing the Riv at the 2007 ROA meet in Asheville. Its also "June" in the 2012 ROA Calendar.
