  1. I also bought the Lloyd's single front mat and 2 rear mats for an '85 Riv I onced owned. They were somewhat expensive but the quality/fit was perfect. The blue color I picked was a good combo w/ the carpet. I went one step further and had the Buick tri-shield embroided in the center of the front and rear mats. Although not OEM, the shield looked liked it belonged there. The car was sold but I kept the mats.
  2. Mike, Good luck with your 95 Riviera. Is it supercharged? My wife and I owned both a 96 and 97...loved the look and performance of them. We did however sell them later for 99 and 00 Eldorados. I will always keep the 92 Riviera and then it will go to my grandson. A couple of notes...get yourself a factory service manual and join the riv performance group forum Riviera Performance (99% dedicated to 95-99 Riv's). The 95 is a little unique mechanically to the 96 - 99. Glad you joined the ROA...best decision you could make.
  3. I just wish Buick would produce a 2 door...with 45 years of driving and buying cars, I've never bought a 4 door car....never liked the looks of them.
  4. Buke, Dave Shipman here.... Diane and I are very sorry to hear of the issues surrounding you as of late. Nice find on the 96 Buick....I personally believe the 90's Buicks are great cars (I've owned four of them...all Rivieras)!!
  5. What's the deal with GM's hype on great gas mileage?? I get 22mpg city and 32mpg highway with my 1992 Buick Riviera on regular 10%e gas...
  6. I looked up "Tail lamp closeout baffles" in the 86-93 Riviera/Reatta Parts manual and it states the part numbers for 88-91 Reattas as follows: RH = 16508276 and LH = 16508275. I don't know if these numbers have changed over the years...hope this helps.
  7. You might also try car-part.com (North America database of participating car bone yards). I was able to obtain an exact spare/jack for an 85 Riviera I once owned and an exact jack for my current 92 Riviera.
  8. Brian, Thanks...Let's both keep a fire under his butt to rejoin.. Dave Shipman
  9. I have not been a BCA member for very long and have yet to attend a National. I usually attend the yearly ROA International meets (have been awarded a 4th, 3rd, 2nd in my class but still looking to get that 1st!). BUT, because the 2011 BCA meet is in my back yard so to speak (about 30mi north of my home) I will be attending my first one. I'm trying to convince a fellow ROA member from the North Carolina Region to rejoin the BCA and attend the Danvers meet in exchange for me attending the 2011 Charlotte meet. Brian...help me out in getting Randall Crain to rejoin!! Can't wait to see what the BCA Nationals are all about....come on July...get here soon!!
  10. The Hilltop Steakhouse in Saugus, MA, has both....and very good....only about 10 miles south from Danvers on Route 1 (the hotel exit brings you right onto Route 1 south).
  11. I've used the site a few times to find parts for my '92 Riviera. I've been very satisfied with their service, customer communication, and their ability to find what I'm looking for. I have no association with the organization...just my personal experience in dealing with them.
  12. I've seen Ed Raner's car w/ the Diplomat Blue....great color....very very dark blue. I guess it all depends whether or not Rob wants to stay true to the colors offered for that generation Riv. I too like metallic paints...I just had my 2000 Eldorado changed from boring Sable Black to Pearl Black (it has silver and blue metalflakes mixed in). Although its not a stock Cadillac color it is a GM one.
  13. The GM codes for Midnight Blue Metallic are "28" and "8743". It was available in at least the 8th generation Rivieras (86-93) and probably other Buicks and GM cars. Attached is a picture of the leather interior of my 92...a little darker than yours.
  14. Rob - Midnight Blue Metallic is the factory stock color of my 92 Riv. It is pictured at the bottom right-hand corner of the ROA website Welcome to the Riviera Owners Association Homepage. (last car at the bottom).
  15. ferr1637, The side panels do in fact come off....I've taken them off at junk yards and off the two 92's I've owned (one sold recently). For the lower body panels that are on the doors, you first have to remove the horizontial stainless body trim. You'll see that the lower body panel is hooked onto stationary rivets with clips. The panels just to the rear of the front wheel wells are hooked the same way but in order to remove them you have to get to the nut holding the stainless trim first by pulling aside the wheel well in that location. Get yourself a 1991 Riviera factory service manual....it provides detailed instructions whereas mine above is just an overview. Onced removed, you should be able to prep them/paint them yourself. Most auto parts stores have the correct supplies for an excellent "DIY" result....have done it on spares I have. By the way, they are made of aluminum not galvy steel (I did the Jolly_John magnet test!)
  16. I bought my first car in 1966, age 17, 11th grade. It was a 56 Mercury 2dr with a V8 292ci 3 on the column. Learned how to drive standard shift with that car. Paid $35 for it and sold it a year later for $50. Couldn't afford tires so I had two snow tires on the rear, one regular tire on the driver's front, and one snow tire on the passenger's front....all used from a junk yard. I figured that while I was fighting the cluching/shifting I'd probably loose sight of the road, hit a rightside curb, and the snow tire would take punishment better than a regular tire!
  17. When I owned my 85 Riv I ordered carpet from Automotive Interiors - interior kits, carpet kits, seat covers and was pleased with the carpet quality and fit. I requested and they provided samples of a couple of different shades of the blue that I was interested in before I made my purchase. The shade I chose matched up to the original perfectly. I also purchased headliner material for my 92 Riv through them and the quality/color was excellent. At some point I plan to replace the carpet in my 92 and will use this company again. I have no connection/affiliation with the above mentioned company....just offering my personal experience with their products.
  18. I believe the "Riviera" script on that particular license plate is for 95-99 Riv's.
  19. Mike & Nancy, There's one on ebay motors (Buick : Riviera: eBay Motors (item 200514173071 end time Sep-06-10 13:00:35 PDT)) that I believe belonged to a longtime ROA member from TX that passed away recently. It is my understanding that she took great care of this Riv along with another Riv she owned.
  20. Based on my experience, I agree with Matthew. The correct way to remove the opera lights from the 79-85 Rivs is from the outside. Gently pry off the "R" face cover. You will then see the electroluminescent pad. It will have two attached wires behind it. You will then see two screws that hold the base plate to the sail panel. Because of apparent thefts, the 86-93 opera lights were redesigned so that removal is through the inside sail panel only. They are also built better...a sealed unit...doesn't fall apart as many 79-85 opera lights do. I once owned an 85 and have owned two 92's. All were/are 12v DC (no inverter box involved).
  21. Jim, I was able to find a window regulator w/motor for my 92 Riv on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market. Its a pretty common part for many caddies, olds, and buicks of that era.

  24. The 2011 National in Danvers, MA will be my first and I have to travel a whopping 53 miles one way!
