  1. Written words come across very flat. And can be misinterpreted. I try not to comment on the cars for sale. If the car is not finished out to a show level. There is always something wrong with them. The not mine section, is very different than the user members cars for sale. You do not get the same comments in the user members section. So people do watch what they say to each other.
  2. You can not slip anything Past this group of people on here. Great collection of very intelligent/smart people.
  3. That’s a comment. 😀 sorry, could not help myself.
  4. With a few body mods it could look like a Tucker convertible.
  5. Seller could do him/her self a favor and pull the car in the driveway. And pressure wash it off. Clean out the inside, then list for sale. Loosing $2,000 on the sale IMO. Looks like a solid car.
  6. A person having no experience with vintage cars. Wanting to get involved and purchase a car. Could learn so much by just watching this forum, and reading members comments. Whether it is in the technical section, general section or the for sale section. It is a fine line to comment on a car for sale, and not come across as criticizing the car. Which can hurt the sale of the car. Or paint the seller in a bad light. But to a person not familiar with vintage cars, an industry and a car market. This forum, with free flowing comments from a large collection of people involved in all aspects of the hobby/industry. Is like attending car collage at no cost. Understand the thought behind the concern.
  7. Yours if you want them. Dash is in Idaho, I would need to pull the parts next time I am there. With in 60 days I am guessing. Let me know if you want them. Will hold them for you till I hear from you.
  8. Moderators can move this to the not mine section. And maybe someone will buy it.
  9. First one I have seen. How many years did they produce that model? Did they build a two door version?

  12. What is the deal with missing Mopar tail lights? Maybe who ever has yours has mine?
  13. I just rebuilt the four carbs on a Jaguar V12. Pull the choke lever out 2-3 clicks, turn the key let the fuel pump run for a few seconds. Fires right up, no issues. I think a lot of people are afraid to dive into a carburetor. Most of them are very simple in design. And if you lay out the parts and study them for a minute. You will see how the whole thing works. A lot of people take a original carb to a shop. Have it rebuilt. Pay xxxx amount of money. Install it, and still runs bad. Carb was not the problem. But not knowing that, they replace it because now the shop is bad, or the carb is junk. A distributor, plugs, plug wires, fuel supply, electrical, vacuum leaks and cracked manifolds can screw with you. And your carb was fine the whole time.🤔
  14. Edelbrock makes a good product. I use them. Matt is right IMO. And don’t leave out the hourly rate of shops who rebuild this stuff. Carb kit, labor and you are there. The cost of a better product. Any more you have to want to keep it original. And it will cost you more in most cases to do it. If you pull your carb and box it up, keep it with the car. No harm done, new owner can put it back to original. And I can buy the edelbrock carb at a swap meet for 1/3 the price.🙂
  15. The maroon wheels are hard to find. It would crack at the top. I had five extra wheels at one time. A mix of colors. The ivory 49 wheels are the tough ones to find. Funny thing about step downs. The only difference between them is a 232, 262 or a 308. Same car in every way. Different trim, different grill, different dash and a longer front end on some models. Drive the same, handle the same and brake the same. If you are driving a 49 super six, you are driving a 53 Wasp. Same thing. I did leave out the 8 cylinder, 254. Who would put that in when the 262 six is bigger. They are great cars. With the visors.😃 I still look for a 52 Hornet club coupe. Will find one some day. I am really picky, picky, picky on that one.
  16. Car was very nice, had a wonderful personality. It was its rough childhood that made it hard to get to know.
  17. 1947 Wiper motor was under the dash with connecting arms to the wiper bases. In 48 Hudson went to that set up. I am guessing that going around the pulleys. Reduces strain on the wiper motor. I think our 56 Corvette had a set up like that under the dash. Not sure when Chevrolet went to cables under the dash.
  18. To have that amount of rust in the nose of that car. The rear frame sections have got to be toast. The 308 engine (motor) is the only thing that might have made this a good parts car. With that gone, this Hornet might have made its last lap.😪
