  1. That was a story in the WTN magazine. In about 1991? A guy told the story that he found his italia in the back of an auto parts store. They had the car buried in the back and used it like a shelf to store parts on. I think it was in the one that had the X1?? (What ever that number was) on the cover. The four door italia that was found in LA being used as a dog kennel. I remember the story saying they could not sell the italia. No one wanted it.
  2. I hope the wedding vows said to love and cherish, and allow plenty of garage/shop time.
  3. Cool original truck for sale. https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/item/407110148018048/?ref=browse_tab&search_query=1958&tracking={"qid"%3A"-6045949320820314887"%2C"mf_story_key"%3A"5169065399878770"%2C"commerce_rank_obj"%3A"{\"target_id\"%3A5169065399878770%2C\"target_type\"%3A0%2C\"primary_position\"%3A-1%2C\"ranking_signature\"%3A0%2C\"commerce_channel\"%3A503%2C\"value\"%3A0}"%2C"ftmd_400706"%3A"111112l"}
  4. Maybe the brackets go above the tank, with the straps drawing the tank up into the brackets? I have never worked on one of those.
  5. I would have never guessed that Essex caps were reproduced. Did not think the Essex line of cars had a big following in the 20’s.
  6. I have seen that before. Went to one house in Idaho to look at a car that someone told me about. Two sisters lived in this boarded up house. Born there, never left. No power, no running water. Everything that was ever brought on the property by their family for over a span of 75-100 years. Was still there, placed in a way to create paths around the property. They had a late 50’s Cadillac Fleetwood that had the rear roof section cut out, trunk lid removed. Rear seats removed, and the rear tail panel was cut out. So their father could load and haul calves in the car. Good times.
  7. In some counties across America. Old bust up cars, living room furniture and used washers and dryers. Are a symbol of wealth and status. Some countries use lama’s and yams as instruments of commerce. Never under estimate the bargaining power of a parked vintage rag top in the old car world.🧐

  9. Trucks are fun to fix up and bring back to life. They present some challenges that are not found in restoring/building cars. Finding a well cared for vintage truck can be difficult. Most have been worked pretty hard. A Nice long sweeping curve/bow can be found when looking at a truck from the side. Always look at point of attachments for suspension components and hangers for leaf springs. Sanding out single wall bed sides is a fun one as well. Dent on one side is a high spot on the other.
  10. That was my V12. Had an extra block and other parts. Fire truck was sent to the great fire house in the sky.
  11. I had a 1944 American la France. Same style as yours. Could not give it away, fire department did not even want it.
  12. Not yet, the Hudson Italia was in the works. 25 manufactured cars that would change the world. There are stories of Italia’s being used as shelves in the back of auto parts stores because they could not sell them.
  13. The front frame stubs from those El Camino have the correct track width for Hudson trucks. Just something I have heard.😏
  14. A 54 Hudson is called a Hash in the Hudson world. Half Nash, half Hudson. They are the same as all step downs. Redesigned dash, grill and tail lights. The hood ornament covers a open scoop in the hood. Nicer design over the 53 hood ornament. Great cars, some people frown on them. All step downs from 48-54 are the same car. Just engine size, different grills and trim. In 54, Hudson had to switch automatic transmissions. Because of the fire at the GM plant? The shift indicator on the column will tell you what transmission is in the car.
  15. My guess is as soon as a color other than black was offered. Paint chips/samples could be shown to customers. You should alway do a test sample on any color you pick. A test spray will be the cheapest part about your paint job. Skipping it, might turn out to be most most expensive mistake you make. If you are unhappy with the color choice. All paint samples/chips will fade and discolor over time.
  16. You can’t have a bad day in the shop with those three rag tops in there.
  17. I would not post this car on this site if it was not for the V12 engine. Thought someone might be interested in the engine, or maybe the stude. https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3295288330753768/?ref=browse_tab&search_query=Packard&tracking={"qid"%3A"-6060349349665566575"%2C"mf_story_key"%3A"5017464355030192"%2C"commerce_rank_obj"%3A"{\"target_id\"%3A5017464355030192%2C\"target_type\"%3A0%2C\"primary_position\"%3A-1%2C\"ranking_signature\"%3A0%2C\"commerce_channel\"%3A503%2C\"value\"%3A0}"%2C"ftmd_400706"%3A"111112l"}
  18. I was also corrected by a dump truck guy, that I have a pickup. Not a truck. So, just like the motor/engine thing. Let’s have out the truck/pickup thing.😂😡
  19. The parts could make their way on to the front end of a rat rod diesel truck. You never know where the open market might take them.
