Maybe it is how the photo was taken that the bumper looks further out there. Or, maybe the color? Mine did not look that way in person but kinda does in the attached photo.

@Macsmopars I was wondering the same thing.  I have some ‘39 Mopars and they don’t look ungainly like that.

Does anyone, perhaps Charles (I wish we could tag people in these posts), know if the grills for 48 pontiacs are all universal? I found one for a decent price and good condition in Texas I want to drive to get.

Nice progress @cevensky!  To tag some in a post, type the “@“ symbol and then start typing their forum name.  From there you can pick from a list ...assuming they are on the forum.

  3. Though this may be optimistic, the extra wiring and relay you see on the cowl may be a sign that the over drive added is the model R10 used later in the 30’s in Chryslers (admittedly could be something else).  I’ve toured with a four cylinder Plymouth convertible setup that way, and it’s a car I would like to have had.

  4. @JACK MI think it has your name on it. I vividly recall hearing the rumble of a pair of Fenton headers through glass packs on a 1949 Plymouth convertible when I was a kid.  A beautiful sound!  I never forgot.  I have a pair of Phillips Performance headers like this - don’t think he made them for more than a few years about a decade ago.

...I think this car might be a fair amount of work.  Body, paint, engine, top.  ...but fun to use along the way.

The other issue is finding a Competent  engine builder. Not too many of them around today. It’s my experience that half the new Stutz engines built today explode within one hundred miles. They are great engines, and when properly done they are bullet proof. Have a hack do a half ass job and you get windows in the engine block........and yes, I have seen this multiple times on them.

@edinmassThrown rod?  What’s the cause of the failures?  I know someone with a 27 needing rebuilt, though they will likely do it themselves.  I’m sure they wouldn’t mind knowing about any marque specific gremlins lurking.

To your point, I have talked to a recent sellers of 1930’s cars who say their car have had a top notch engine rebuilds by so-and-so, however when I ask them what was done, they don’t know what they paid for.

  6. Thanks all for your replies.  Very interesting car, but not interested in it based on circumstances of sale (not related to the above).  Looks like similar conditions occurring on the fan belt and maybe a few other spots.  Visible portions easily remedied and if it is simply a sign of slight moisture and not submersion, I’ve learned something.  Thanks all!

  7. I didn’t want to cross link a live ad, but I am wondering what is occurring around the distributor dust boots for the spark plug wires in the attached picture.  Thoughts?  It looks like mold to me.  How does that happen without being really wet?  Is that a sign of potential water damage / submersion?  Maybe this is just something typically of damper climates?

Apparently not, but I'm not entirely sure.

Yes, it is straightforward to write code to read a number or variation of numbers or misspelled numbers as opposed to actual number and interpret them as phone numbers.

Captchas - pictures that you must identify a “bus” or a “sidewalk” or similar items are used to identify humans (and as a side benefit train computer models ...maybe someone’s Tesla).

Thank you for posting this.  While I share @Lebowski‘s frustration that the free car market place has moved to FB I’m coming to accept that is reality and I appreciate this post as this is one of my more favorite cars in what appears to be in pretty nice condition!

Incorrect headlights. Assume this incorrect headlight exchange was done to allow sealed beams. If I were selling the car I would at least place the correct headlights on the vehicle to give it more "curb appeal".

They may not have them.  The originals, particularly the ones that had external horn brackets, were prone to cracking.   They also were rounded on top, of memory serves correctly, which wasn’t the best interface for after market or second use headlamps

  10. 1933 Chrysler - one of my favorites.  The ad says “Canada”

Agree with@John_Mereness 1933 CQ’s have separate windshield frames for each side.

I see one correct headlamp and I can’t see  if the correct head lamp stands are there.  It was tough to hunt down the correct ones, as was the crank hole cover when I went looking.
