  1. I didn't write them all down but the 1925 Restored Franklin went for $9500. My friend bought the half restored 1927 Franklin for $4750. All the pre-1923 Engines went for $65 or less. A ratty 1927 Coupe with both doors, trunklid, and garbage fenders went for $165. The 1928 5-door sedan went for $1500. Some of the tubs and ratty roadster shells were $250 or less. I went for the doors and was hoping to find a rear bumper and a wood wheel spare tire carrier but no dice! The Auctioneers were begging for bidders. A sign of the times guys! The teens and twenty's stuff is fading.......
  2. Google the dayton Maryland dodge brothers auction for better photos than I can post. I bought both 1926 Coupe doors with all hardware and garnish for $90.
  3. I'm at the auction now. It's going to be a busy day!
  4. You have all of those exotic vehicles (1960 Royal Enfield Super Meteor) and your asking how to put a fast four in a '26 frame???? I have to tell you that you have some cool stuff! I would set the engine and trans in the frame and take measurements and make some creative mounts. It will come to you once you see the engine in place. If you need some help take photos and measurements and post them here. I visit here most nights. Bill
  5. Mike, They are as rare as the decklids. I may have a set of hinges but I will warn you it won't be cheap. Give me a couple of days to dig them out of storage. Hang on to your decklid. The last one I saw a year ago went for $625. Post some photos of your car! Don't be shy! Bill
  6. Greg the 16 TPI is ancient history. To make my puller I used a 2" x 3/4" pipe bell reducer and cut the 2-7/16 - 16 TPI on the large end on a lathe. The small end I screwed in a 3/4" pipe plug, faced off the square head of the plug, then drilled and tapped 3/4" - 10 TPI for a jack screw. NOTE: Rule of thumb on the tightness of the pipe plug is to tighten it as much as you can. Then go one more turn! Find a friend with a lathe and bring him some beer! Good luck to you!
  7. Try "Complete Auto Glass & Trim" south of you in Crete. Straight down the Bishop Ford. Or, if your old like me, straight down the calumet expressway!
  8. Simple. Edit your avatar by replacing it. It will come out LARGE.
  9. See John? I couldn't tell what it was with my old eyes.......
  10. Jack, you have to go and get an avatar enlargement! It's too hard to see that old Dodge. I did it and now I feel good about myself! Oh, and did anyone notice that I crossed over to the "Dark Side"? See my avatar and vehicle signature....... Bill
  11. May the Earth have peace at least for one day. Merry Christmas everyone!
  12. I just might do that Danny after I change my avatar! I might stroll down to the Buick Pre-War and do an introduction newbe thread. Thanks Guys!
  13. Great Info Here! Thanks Sean & Glassguy. There is a total of 8 digits the last one being the "I". All I have to do is print out this topic so the nice police officer will understand it is a "1" not an "I" on the vehicle ID form. As you can see I am a MOPAR guy and this GM stuff is new to me so please forgive my ignorance.
  14. I know this is an old thread but I am new proud owner of a 1939 Buick Special Model 41. My frame tag numbers are 7 numbers and ends with an I. Can anyone tell me why it ends with an I? Thanks everyone!
  15. Another idea is to completely sand blast the frame and then use an etching primer almost immediately. Use bondo to fill in any rust pits and imperfections. Then use a primer/sealer over everything. Topcoat with black imron mixed with a flattener to the desired satin color. Very good against the elements and rock chips. Very dangerous to breathe so you will need a fresh-air unit to spray. Show us some photos! We love to watch other people work!
  16. 1926 and early 1927 ONLY for the 21" disk and wood wheels to the best of my knowledge. This is why you are having a hard time finding a set. It took me YEARS to get a set of disks for my sedan and just as long for a set of 21" wood wheels for my coupe. I would keep looking here and DAILY on the HAMB classifieds. A good price is $50/ea. plus the ride. Good Luck to you! Bill
  17. Sweet! Time to add to your stable Jack?
  18. I like our description of "Saloon" better than yours Ray. It must be the German in me........
  19. Nothing funny at all! I didn't think the German language had a "th" pronunciation. Example is Arthur in English but Artur in German. Sorry I got off topic here...... Bill
  20. Welcome Lothar! Are you originally from Germany? Only reason I ask is because of the "th" in your spelling. Beautiful Car!
  21. Heck Ray I wasn't gonna GIVE you anything! I want you to rebuild mine!!!!!!!!
