  1. Sometimes I amaze myself with my own stupidity. The Instruction Book for my Plymouth is sitting right in front of me on my desk, and it has the exact same illustration in it. I learn something new every day.
  2. I'd like the '74 sticker as that was the first year I went. It was also the year I was born, and I haven't missed one since.
  3. I always thought that the old-type of brakes with the shoes anchored to the backing plate had no primary and secondary shoes. Aren't they are usually the same size?
  4. My daily driver is a 2001 Dodge Dakota. It's 2WD with the 4.7 V8 and A/T (if that matters). It has drums in the rear. The brakes have been totally re-done (new calipers, pads and rotors up front, new drums, shoes and wheel cylinders in the back). My problem is that the rear brakes will lock up at low speeds, especially when they are cold. It's been back to the dealer twice for this problem with no improvement. The shoes and drums are from NAPA. I installed them myself. The dealer confirmed that I did nothing wrong. Their only suggestion is to replace all the NAPA parts with MOPAR parts. They, however, feel that the brakes are acceptable as-is. The NAPA drums warped almost immediately when new (Chinese). I brought them back to NAPA, and they replaced them. They warped again. The dealer cut them the first time it was there, but they have warped again. Will tossing the new Chinese NAPA shoes and drums and replacing them with Mexican Mopar parts make a difference?
  5. I called this morning and got a room with the AACA rate with no problem.
  6. There isn't much to them. Open it up, clean everything and replace the two gaskets and it may work fine. Mine does.
  7. I guess I should have said round-head cap screws. My bad
  8. The car was put together mostly with stovebolts, (cap screws).
  9. Because they are shaped like a box?
  10. BRASS STROMBERG OE-1 23 24 26 STUDEBAKER FRANKLIN CARB:eBay Motors (item 360198713715 end time Oct-20-09 16:10:47 PDT)
  11. I think it's neat. Preston Tucker would have liked it. I show my eighth graders the movie, Tucker: The Man and His Dream every year. Most hate it, but some get it, and I never get tired of watching it.
  12. Sorry I missed you. My space is directly across the street from Bob 1937HD. I wasn't there much this year. I brought my three-year-old daughter along this year for the first time, and she wasn't too thrilled about it. That and the threat of weather convinced me to leave on Friday, which I immediately regretted.
  13. When I bought my Franklin, I tried to insure it with JC Taylor, because that's the company my father has used since 1958. They would not take me because I was 26 years old at the time and was only licensed for 9 years. Hagerty had no problem with that, and I now have three cars with them. I can't say enough good things about Hagerty.
  14. Find a new insurance company, and take your business elsewhere. I use Hagerty, and am always treated great. All of my cars have lots of scratches.
  15. Wouldn't a regular trailer with surge brakes have the same setup?
  16. The speedo in the top left of the first photo looks just like the one in the '63 Buick I used to own, but my memory might be questionable.
  17. Either way, it'll be fun See you soon.
  18. Hmmm, I wonder why it doesn't stop.
  19. Arrgh, I have to "work" at least a few days this week. I'll be on my way Wednesday afternoon.
  20. The first photo of the tan and brown sedan is my PA. It has a flat grille and regular doors in the front. The second photo is a PB. Note the curved grille and suicide doors in the front. A PB coupe will have suicide doors, where a PA does not. There are many other difference, but these are the most noticeable.
  21. Not planned, really? My father has had these two on the shelf for years, and I've been looking forward to 2010 to get the next one. I plan on living to see 2035, and hope to see the AACA 100-year meet.
