  1. You can check some older boat yards for an Atomic Four. They are tiny and probably more plentiful and durable than a Crosley.
  2. If the crank has no counterweights, which it probably doesn't, it may be possible. In fact, I replaced the pistons in my grandfather's 1931 Lincoln, and they had to come out the bottom. The big end of the rod was bigger than the cylinder bore.
  3. I think CDOs came with various tires over their production. If Steve doesn't know, the folks at either Universal Tire or Coker Tire will definitely know also. If you know the tire brand and size, the info is probably on one of their web sites.
  4. The "rope" drive says Holesman.
  5. We once went to a place that repairs musical instruments to get a brass lamp silver soldered. They did nice work.
  6. Every motorcycle I have owned (there have been a lot, none American) has had regular brake fluid changes as part of the recommended maintenance. When the master cylinder failed on my BMW and leaked fluid all over the gas tank and my right knee, it was a painful $250 reminder as to why this is important. I have never used DOT 5 fluid. A friend tried it in his 1930 Franklin and also experienced the DOT 5 frappe, but on the side of the road after climbing from sea level up into higher elevations.
  7. This will probably fit a 30U or PA. It has some cracks, but they can probably be fixed. Interesting piece. I've never seen another one. $250, can deliver to Hershey. It's on ebay, item 280398337443
  8. I don't think it's Plymouth. Looks like an aftermarket mascot.
  9. The lights on my '32 Franklin were dismal as well. I gently cleaned the reflectors and replaced all the wiring. Now they are much better. Still not like modern lights, but acceptable at lower speeds. Also, if your car is a short wheelbase car with a wooden chassis, check that all your grounds are good and clean.
  10. My father is at the Greenfield Village Old Car Festival with his 1910 Sears. This year there was a special gathering of Sears cars planned, and nine cars showed up. I am impressed! Photos to come.
  11. This was posted on the Franklin Club web site today. Allan was a friend of mine, and this story by his son Eric is very touching. http://www.franklincar.org/news/AllanFranklin.htm
  12. Hi Art, You might have to grease and re-use that bearing. Many Franklin throw out bearings are no longer available. Maybe somebody else on here will have a better answer. Tom R, are you out there?
  13. I went to a show on Saturday run by the local Boy Scouts. Cars 1942 and earlier were free. Sounds good to me!
  14. I recently had the tank out of Dad's 1923 Franklin. The original drain plug got lost so I got a replacement at the auto parts store. It's a brass plug in a steel bung. No matter how tight I make it, it drips. Is there any kind of sealant that it appropriate for this?
  15. Thank you very much. I will get in contact with him. BTW, I love your web site www.ply33.com
  16. Do you have the large rifle-drilled bolt for mounting an Alemite Gas-co-lator to the top of a Stewart vacuum tank?
  17. I have a great pest repeller. He repels all the vermin.
