  1. Generally speaking of vehicles of that time, the change for correct speedometer operation was accomplished with a change to the plastic gear in the transmission that the speedometer cable attaches to on the side of the transmission. If my memory is correct they might have been color coded to the different number of teeth for a particular rear axle ratio.
  2. Are there blue seat belts in the rear seats? It looks exactly like the car my Dad had. Nice find.

  4. I checked with a friend of mine that worked for Rochester Products to confirm my thoughts and he confirmed that 4 1/2 is way too far out. Something is not right. The aproximate setting would be about 1-1/2 +- 1/2. I would look for vacuum leaks with a can of wd-40. Maybe a dumb thought, but are you sure that you have the correct carb for the engine/car? Might want to double check the part number and application.
  5. I did not get everything that I wanted, but it was a good year for parts for my nickel trucks. I got headlights, lenses and an exact windshield all for a fair price. I would agree on the Buick hubcaps for the teens, but you cannot have everything. I was pleased with my couple of days.
  6. The rear wheel steering was called QuadraSteer and was a great option. It allowed the large sport utilites to drive like a smaller car with a shorter wheel base. Too bad GM was not able to get the option priced right by it's self so it would have had larger acceptance.
  7. Do you have a picture of what you are trying to match? It would help a lot with a ruler next to it.
  8. I believe that the license plate bracket is a Neverout adapter to put one of their lights on the rear of the car with it shining on the license plate.
  9. A guess on the other that has Bear marked would be that it is a tool for doing front end alignment on cars.
  10. With the number of regular cars parking two and three deep in the swap area, it is no wonder that the regular lots look less full. Seems to be a lot more parking in the vending areas in the last few years with less vending.
  11. The AC-44S spark plugs are able to be used in lots of applications including lawn mowers, snow blowers, and I think many GM cars well into the 60's. They would be the same plug as a LM-44S for lawn mower/garden equipment applications except the top of the plug would have a screw top for garden applications like brass cars for the spark plug wire.
  12. Your local GM dealer should also have the gear marking compound. The GM part number is #1052351. Here is a link from a website. The retail price at the dealer will probably be more than the online price, but you might take a copy of the web site in and see if they will match the price.   13. I would be looking at the races again. Something is getting warm which is obvious. What is happening to the inside bearings? Are they OK?
  14. The tag looks identical to Buick tags in the teens. If you post the vin# maybe Dave Corbin can tell you what it is to model and year if it is a Buick.

  16. The Astro was not a rebadged Vega. Maybe Astra? The Chevrolet Astro van and GMC Safari vans are twins.

  19. Looking at the rear spring and the position of the end of the spring on the shackle and the general curve of the spring, I would agree with Silverghost. I would think that the shackle would be more vertical and the end of the spring would closer to the shackle. If you were to jack up the center of the spring to get the spring to curve more without the car weight, does the spring end come to the shackle and the shackle become vertical? Does the rear match height with the front? This look comes from the replacement of the rear spring in my Corvette which has generally similar set up.
