  1. Sounds like a weak spark. Might want to check the coil. Is it a 6 volt coil for a 6 volt system, or is it possibly a 12 volt coil on a 6 volt system. Or maybe a bad / weak coil. I use my 70's timing light on a 6 volt teens vehicle with no problem. Just hook up the timing light to a 12 volt battery. Just a thought.
  2. The only non overhead valve that Buick ever used was in a 1913 Buick truck. It was a one year only use.
  3. Boy, I have not heard that statement for a longgggggg time. Brings back memories of my Dad & Grandpa saying the same thing.
  4. For those of you that have or are interested in Brass Buicks, there is a discussion group that concentrates on those cars from the early teens and before. If you have a brass Buick, go here. https://brassbuicks.groups.io/g/BB to join the group if interested. There are currently more than 500 members. Major guideline is that you MUST use your full name, city & state for admission. No monikers. Any questions, let me know. Guidelines below. The Brass Buicks Group is a web-based, email discussion group located within the Groups.io domain. The group's purpose is listed on the BrassBuicks Home Page that can be easily found at www.BrassBuicks.org or BrassBuicks@groups.io and repeated here: "This is the meeting place for anyone interested in the history, documentation, restoration and preservation of the Brass Era (pre-1916) 2, 4 and 6 cylinder Buick automobiles, trucks and engines. Join with us in an international exchange of fact and fancy about these early examples of automotive engineering that provided much of the basic foundation for General Motors." As the Brass Buicks Group continues to grow we need to continue to work together so that everyone can enjoy the camaraderie. It's nothing more than 'good list manners' that I'll try to quickly summarize: SIGNATURES: List etiquette calls for your full name and city/state at the end of each message. We call this the "Harold Sharon (from Pluto) Rule" in honor of a great supporter of BB who has left us to carry on. We are too large of a group to remember all the nick-names, etc. that are sometimes used. Every member should set up an automatic signature file which is offered within the “Subscription” option in the left column on the web page. Each posting that a subscriber makes shall contain their first and last names and city/state. Missing the signature details within a posting shall bring down the subtle wrath of the list moderator(s) & deletion from the group. OFF TOPIC: This list's topic is detailed in the paragraphs above. Off-topic posters are subject to moderation of posts or removal from the list. Absolutely NO POLITICAL TOPICS or PERSONAL ATTACKS ALLOWED. REPLY SUBJECT LINE: Keep the subject line relevant to the current subject. Often discussions (threads) change topic. Please add to or update the subject line to reflect the current topic. REMOVED DUE TO SPAM: Some email providers notify us when our group messages land in someone's spam folder. We never want that to happen. It can lead to further emails landing in spam, it can cause us to be blocked by email providers, and it is a bad user experience when someone doesn't think they receive all the messages from their groups. Adding to this, unfortunately some people use the spam button instead of trying to unsubscribe from a group. In any event, we automatically unsubscribe someone when notified about this. As part of that process, we send them an email with a link that lets them automatically and quickly re-subscribe if it was a mistake. The email lets them know to check their spam folders and mark any messages from us in there as not spam, which trains the spam filters to make fewer mistakes about our email. ATTACHMENTS: Photographs and other files can now be sent as attachments to the group. Be sure to include full description in the posting. Photos will be automatically resized for presentation and storage. HOME PAGE FEATURES There are a number of additional features within the BrassBuicks home page at https://groups.io/g/BrassBuicks including: Account Information. You can update your Groups.IO account information with a simple click of your mouse from the Home Page. Delivery Options. Going on vacation? Want to switch from Individual messages to "Special Notices Only" web-page viewing only? Or do you want to switch from Daily Summary to Individual Messages? Do it here, at the home page. Message Archives. ALL of the BB messages are kept in a current archive and this entire list is easily searched using the software located within the web page. Before asking that question, go to the archives and search! Files. This is the area for interesting files such as sound (.wav) files, .pdf data files and even text files. We have a limited amount of space so be sure to follow the guidelines. All files are kept in alphabetical order, depending upon the file's name, upper case coming first, followed by lower case. Keep your files small. Databases. This web feature is the place to create individual databases designed for continual updating. Take a look and contribute to the databases or suggest additional databases that we can create. Help for Groups.io can be found at the top right corner of the home page. If you have any questions or would like personal assistance, please feel free to contact me at BrassBuicks+owner@groups.io This is a SUPER group. -- Larry Schramm
  5. Tell the bride her work looks great. The rest of the work also looks great too.
  6. Still stand with a 1909 Model 10 Runabout.
  7. I am going to say that it is a 1909 Model 10 based on the engine number.
  8. I am on the side of getting it road worthy and driving the wheels off the vehicle and enjoying the scenery as it was when the car was built. There is nothing like driving down a dirt road with a 100 year old car. The first thing is the get the brakes in perfect order. Then make sure the steering is in good order. After that get the running and driving. Remember, If you can not get it started, you can not get in trouble but if you can not stop it, you are in trouble. In many of our opinions, the best trophy is a worn out set of tires.
  9. If you notice the difference between Morgan's hubcaps and the correct one for a 4 cylinder vehicle is the Buick block letters go between the points of the hubcaps, but the 6 cylinder hub caps go from flat to flat. Close, but no cigar. The six cylinder caps are also larger.
  10. I took the '15 Truck out for a Cars & Community car show that is part of the Concours show in Detroit at the Detroit Institute of Arts last night. Good time, saw some friends and met a number of other persons. Besides the show, got to drive around downtown DETROIT at NIGHT for a while. A couple of short videos of some of the drive attached. Thanks to Dennis for the videos. https://www.vzmessages.com/vs/85253a35added46cb76b1997dc81d3e44c09af92 https://www.vzmessages.com/vl/e2998555bd012c572d29dc8e471a75642e11b986 https://www.vzmessages.com/vl/6fef53d2166af9647302bcdd0710412c17110cc2
  11. Can you post some pictures of what you have. Confirm it is a 4 cylinder? Pictures are the best to determine what you have. Also, yes there is a bar that goes between the fenders and attaches to the bottom of both headlights. Can be used for the license plate. It is a "U" channel bar. Where are you located?
  12. Champion 589 spark plugs are what I and many of us use in our early Buicks. https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=champion+589+spark+plugs&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
  13. The 4 cylinder hub caps are aluminum. Here is a picture of what they look like. The best bet is to look for one at Hershey. I was able to find a couple of them for my vehicles but it took about 5 years looking to find them. Might also put a search on ebay for aluminum Buick hub cap.
  14. Wrong, Dandy Dave's trademark is a speedo & flip flops.. Remember, what has been seen can not be unseen.
  15. AAHHHH, the Chartreuse Lady. Great car owned by a stellar machinist and Buick owner, Mr David Brennen. I have driven that car. Nice ride.
  16. Joyce & I will be there this weekend after the Lansing-Dearborn two day tour.
  17. Not specific, but being "drum" headlights on stantions, I would guess to look for a truck in the 20's.
  18. Setting drive shaft angles. Since it has Kent Moore and a "J" tool number, J 23498-A on it, it was a GM Dealer essential tool. The A indicates that it was the first design. There may be more than one design, but the same basic tool. Sit down when you see what they are worth today. https://www.google.com/search?q=j+23498&client=opera&hs=OEF&sca_esv=559122478&hl=en&sxsrf=AB5stBiMEGYFpEF57TmluqigWN7lJ3MSgA:1692727001287&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjItPO86_CAAxWghIkEHddjBuAQ0pQJCNEI&biw=1691&bih=833&dpr=1.1
  19. Not that old, maybe 40 years old, but I am using it to diagnose a miss on one of my old cars.
  20. Joe Tonietto and I took our Buicks to the Buicks on the Bricks event in conjunction with the Back To The Bricks event in Flint on Saturday. He took their 1910 Buick and I took our 1913 Buick. This event is at the same time as the Woodward Dream Cruise, but a lot less crowded. Here are our cars on the lawn of the Durant-Dort Carriage Offices which is across from GM Factory One. We both had a great day. We could hardly get away from the cars with the number of persons asking questions. Joe actually did a "school" on how to start a brass car. We drove our cars from my shop in Grand Blanc. Great time and day.
  21. Here is another car that we believe the picture was taken in the late 20's. It looks like it could be a Dodge. Thanks for your help.
  22. Posting for a friend. A PYRO anti-freeze sign. Good condition. See pictures. Asking $1,000.00, or reasonable offer considered. Call Brian at 586-two, five, five-five 836.
