  1. Don Garlits has a Drag Racing Museum and an Antique Automobile Museum about 75 miles north of Disney
  2. The GM sedans from the 50's through the 60's were always 2 1/2" higher. In the salesman's guide in 1960 the book refers the salesman if they notice the perspective buyer wearing a hat to direct them to a sedan and make it a point of the feature of the higher roof line of a sedan..
  3. I have been donating the press kits and brochures that I had accumulated from my years working at The Javits Center in NYC to the AACA Library over the past few years. This year with everything going on I decided to bring it down next year. In the 90's the manufacturer's were getting away from printed media and handing out DVD's it just was not the same to me. It was a lot cheaper then printed media to produce also
  4. I have a 3 car garage under my house and nice sized shop as well, and according to my wife everything smells, the problem has only gotten worse with age. A few weeks ago I sprayed some CRC Brake Clean to kill a cricket, every window of the house was open with box fans blowing air out of the house with her mumbling something under her breath. If you come upon an answer please let me know
  5. I was thinking the same thing I have been laid up recuperating from some surgery watching these shows on occasion during the day, most of them seem like an employer's nightmare with accidents just waiting to happen. I seldom see first aid kits any where in the back round or eyewash stations.
  6. AACA, I participate Nationally, and of course on this site VCCA (Vintage Chevrolet Club of America) National Events sort have lost their luster without going into it, prefer to participate locally Was in a lot of other clubs over the years but as my collection thinned down so did my memberships I enjoyed the Buick Club Publication, I get to read it when buddy is done with his. The Cosworth Owner's Association was amazing with the information they came up with every quarter
  7. Thanks, right place, right time of day. My wife noticed it so we doubled back for the photo. She took some others but when I attach them they are upside down, no matter how I rotate the photos
  8. Took the 54 out today to take advantage of the 70 degree temperature and to get some fuel stabilizer through the system. Leaves are are just a little past peak on Long Island, this was taken on the road heading toward Teddy Roosevelt's Home in Oyster Bay NY
  9. My Father's description of him was a lot more colorful
  10. Does synthetic oil have an effect on these?
  11. This appears to be the peak week on Long Island
  12. Glenn, The Corvair is only the first 30 or so pages of his book unsafe at any speed. I read it in the 70's but he went after a lot of safety issues with many different vehicles. Marty, I was just joking around,
  13. Does it leak oil for the full effect? And have no heat?
  14. This is way too absurd, there has to be some more to this. If the car is not stolen, then why was it confiscated? There is no clear answer to that question given. Did he have an attorney? After 5 years I personally would have had another one. Now I would have another attorney suing the State and the DMV. We sometimes have to take a step back question things when it's too far out there Restorer 32 if he is correct (and I trust he is)
  15. I always liked the Brent era (Stadium era) of the Dead, maybe because I went to a lot of those shows back in the day. But I enjoy listening to those shows when I am down in the shop messing around
  16. I had taken mine to a local jewelry shop and had it engraved, and the guy nailed it! Correct font and everything it was pretty cheap around $20, Fascinating thread!
  17. The internals of the switches were either corroded, or not rated for the amperage of the blower motors, or even could be a bad connection of the wires at the switch. A by-product of an overloaded or poor electric connection is heat. Fuses in automobiles really did not start to become effective until the late 50's early 60's
  18. I don't think I ever saw one either, seldom ever see any 41 cars. I remember my Father had a 41 Chevy Convertible back in the early 90's and it was pretty rare and that would be considered common in comparison to the Oldsmobile depicted in the brochure. Some site on the internet claims that 125 were made, but that seems high to me.
  19. Blackballed, in most states he would have went to prison!
  20. Took a ride with my son in his 53 Chevy 150 around Charlottesville VA today and we came upon this tree, more photos t come tomorrow
  21. I finally got out to contribute to this thread. We were driving down yesterday to my son's house in Charlottesville VA from NY and stopped for lunch in Chambersburg PA and saw this tree. I hope to take a few photos with my son's 53 Chevy this weekend
