  1. If you are still worried about fire, you could always install a battery cut off switch for when you are not driving the Reatta. Kind of a PIA, but, no juice, no electrical fire.

    tire sizes

The original tire size is not so popular these days, but still a nice tire the P4 from Pirelli is available. I have them and they ride and handle pretty well.
  3. David, I have used Meguiar's Plastic Cleaner with good results for the tail light lens.
  4. Bob, its a very nice car, wish they were still made. I might look for something like that to replace my 10 Traverse that has the most uncomfortable seats that I have ever sat in. Enjoy!
  5. Are you looking for suspension parts or body parts? I might know of a red parts car that has been sitting for a few years near by. I will check on it if you are interested.
  6. What kind of gas mileage did you get on a long trip like that one was?
  7. I like the Toronado wheels and think they go great with the color of your Reatta. Have been keeping an eye out for a set of the Riviera finned aluminum wheels for mine. They are 16" so I would have to get tires as well.
  8. I am not sad the the Reatta did not survive. I can only imagine what the kiddies in charge of the "new" GM would have done to it. It is a nice car as is. If I were to get crazy with a 90 convertible, a clear bubble top might look pretty cool with improved A/C to help keep it cool. Sort of like the ones that were made aftermarket for the 53 to 55 Corvettes.
  9. My 90 coupe gets 18 in town and 27 to 29 on the highway. The 29 is usually achieved at 62mph, a speed it seems to love on the 2 lanes.
  10. The minivan is not really in great demand these days. At one time they were the thing to have, but trends have changed. Smaller families may have something to do with it?
  11. Not bad, 2 out of the 5 are Buicks. Riv convert is the 2nd.
  12. The pearl black would look very sharp. I don't care about about having my cars judged anymore. I would rather have them as I like them. Bring on the pearl black.
  13. Way back when Magnavox was producing stereo consoles, they were labeled "Magnificent Magnavox". If you listened to the sound, you could not help but wonder why they were tooting their own horn. Go with the Delco product, you will be better off in the long run.
  14. If I was still 17 sure, but that was a long time ago.
  15. Wait a minute, you bought her a Lexus, and now she's telling you what to buy? Buy what YOU like. It is always easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. Stand up for yourself now man!
  16. I remember when the decals were everywhere. Back then it was so thick an gooey, enough to convince me that it would not be going into any of my engines.
  17. Carbon Footprint? Made up BS to separate the unwitting from their dollars. There it is reduced to its simplest form.
  18. Late to the party on this one, no bids yet. There is a guy in Utah who built a supercharged hot rod Packard speedster of this vintage that looks to be more "fun" than this one. This one is nice, but my speedster body would have been of a smoother flowing design. Maybe with some Prowler front fenders just for grins. With the $100,000.00 I could have a Glen Pray Auburn Speedster, and a driver Packard coupe to boot.
  19. I am thinking that those bushings could be reproduced with a product called"Repro Rubber". An impression, or mold could be made of the one on Jims table in the photo, then the repro rubber poured into the mold to form the new bushing. Chances are that Danial will not find Repro Rubber in Afganistan, but when he is safely home again, it can be purchased from Flex Bar in New York. I have not tried this, it is just an idea that I think might work. I hope that it does.
  20. Hi, I have a question about these different model Rivieras. I have started to look for a low mile 97-99, and find that most are high mile 150,000 plus and "well used". The low mile cars seem to be very few and far between. But I find quite a few low mile well cared for Rivs in the 82-85 year range, with 45-75 thousand miles on the clock. Why do so many more 80's Rivieras have low miles and the last series seem to be all used up? I drove an 80 for 11 years from new and liked it a lot. Might want to get 1 of each of these series Riv.
  21. Never thought that I would see a Reatta convertible in the scrapyard unless it was crashed really bad. This red one looks too young to die like this.
  22. This happened when my 90 Riviera was about 10 years old. The cooling fans would stay off, and the blower motor would stay on even with ignition off. Replaced the ECM and all was good again.
  23. Bryan, the rear view mirror fell on a 96 degree day on Wednesday, probably due to the glue being 21 years old. The windshield is original. I will send the pics to you today. I would post them here if I knew how. Maintenance has been kept up throughout the life of the car. NCReatta, thanks for the brake light tip, I will check that today.
  24. It is time to sell the Reatta that I thought that I would never sell. It has the matching burgundy leather interior, new oem headliner is about 2 years old. The car runs and drives well, rides on nice Pirelli tires, and is all stock. The paint is still nice with the original painted pinstripes. It will need a few things done to make the new owner happy. The driver side headlight needs a kit, the passenger side was done 2-1/2 years ago. The rearview mirror needs to be reglued to the windshield. The upper brake light works fine, the lowers do not. One of the horn buttons on the steering wheel likes to fall off. The cassette part of the radio does not work, but it never bothered me as I have not had cassettes for many years. The car is in the Chicago Suburbs. I have both remotes, one is like new, with the key tag from the original dealer, Bill Cook Buick in Arlington Heights IL. I can email pictures to those who are interested. I have recently lost storage and don't want to see this car sit outside. $3250. Private message if you have interest. No rust anywhere.
