If your Riv is running GM DexCool as its coolant it might look like what you have described. Look for leaks around the transaxle too.

Last winter My 90 was stored locally where I could start it every 3 or 4 weeks to keep the juices flowing. This year the storage would be dead storage with the requirement that the car battery is disconnected. The car will be stored from mid November until mid April. With all of the electronics and the digital odometer on these cars, would having the battery disconnected for about 5 months have any ill effect on the car? Thanks!

So it looks like I will get up early in the morning, get mine washed and vacuum the interior and take it over to Marquardt. I have not been to the show there for a few years. It was a nice show the times that I have been there. 2 Reattas now, anyone want to make it 3?

65 Skylark Gran Sport, in August of 67. My Dad traded it in on a new 68 Electra a few weeks later. That move could be why I have lived to write this post.

I liked them when they were introduced, but at the time my kids were 2 and 3 years old, so I kept my Toronado for a while longer, but the Reatta idea was still kicking around in the back of my head. Last fall I was reading the paper on a Saturday morning and a nice one was advertised locally. I went and looked right away and bought my 90 after driving it for about 20 minutes. It is a great driving car, has nice styling, and is not too commonly seen on the road. I had looked at a 90 Corvette convt the previous weekend, and the Reatta is a much nicer car to drive.

The Reatta is down low to get in and out of, but not as bad as a new Corvette. Getting in and out of my sons Mitsu 3000GT is a pain. I am 6'2 and 58 and a big guy, but like driving the Reatta, so getting in and out is just a minor complaint for me.

The 89-93 Riviera aluminum wheels were finned, and did not look much like the 91 Reatta wheels. Could yours be from the next generation 95 or newer Riviera?

Does anyone here own both a Reatta and an Allante? It seems like they would make an interesting pair to have in the garage. Other than the V8 vs V6, how do they compare as the driving experience goes? Thanks

When I was young and thin, I had several Corvettes, and drove them on several long trips, drove a 72 from Chicago to Hershey at the at the beginning of the double nickle speed limit, seemed like it took forever and at 6'2 was just barely comfortable. Next from Chicago to the Oregon coast and down to San Diego and back in a 77 which was slightly more comfortable than the 72. Just before I bought the Reatta, I looked at a few 04 convertibles and decided that I just was not comfortable in the car. The seats in the Reatta are more comfortable all around. The car is nicer to drive because of the seats, for hours on end.

I am 58, and hope to be able to keep my 90 Dang GM Junk until I can no longer safely drive. Or maybe just a little bit longer than that. It has 55600 miles now. Maybe I will need that water pump when I am 80!

This year the Mt Prospect Bluemobile Cruise Nights have a night reserved for Thunderbirds, Toronado's and the REATTA. It is set for July 18 a Saturday night starting at 6PM in the Metra parking lot in downtown Mt. Prospect IL. This is located at the corner of Rt 14 and Rt 83. It sure would be fun to see as many of our cars there as possible. Mine will be there. Hope to see your too.

Lamar, check out a nice original Reatta. Don't just look at it, but make sure that you drive a nice one. The 79-85 Riviera is a very nice car as well. The are just all around nice to drive around town or on the highway. And look very nice too.

Remember that the Reatta is a sporty luxury car. You could supercharge or turbocharge one without too much alteration. But think about "horses for courses" before getting too carried away. If you want to go fast in a Buick, think Grand National, or GNX!

Yes, it is an interesting write up. However the writer must be very uninformed to describe the 3800 engine as coarse and unrefined. I would like to see GM bring this powerplant back in an updated form in some updated cars, like a new Reatta or Riviera coupe.

Mine seems to get mostly quizzical looks,but last week a guy at the gas station said "Nice Porsche".

The 95-99 Riviera back end reminds me of the back of the 48 Buicks. The front end sort of reminds me of a turtle, and overall I like the styling of these cars. They are a nice car to drive, and kind of fun with the supercharged version. I was surprised when they were discontinued and not replaced with an updated model.

Today I took mine out of storage, changed the insurance over from storage to driving and cruised for about 20 miles. I did a $2.00 self serve spray wash to get the dust and crud off and it started raining again just as I finished. It needs some wax now as none of the water beaded in the wash. It may be a bit early to bring it out, but the road salt is all washed away and I just flat out don't want to wait any longer.

I use Firefox and it works fine for me.

November 21st. The salt was all washed off of the streets from our recent heavy rain, so I took it out for a spin. I wanted to make sure that the brakes did not get too rusty from sitting out its winter nap. I had almost forgotten just how much fun this car is to drive! Hurry up Spring!

That spoiler looks quite a bit like the factory one on my son's 97 Mustang Cobra. I kind of like the way that it looks on this white eBaymobile.

If you use one of the non abrasive waxes or polishes, and buff by hand there should be no issues with the stripes. Just avoid the cleaner style waxes, and you don't really need a machine to polish the car, by hand gives you much more control.

For you guys who would take the cash,you need to drive a Prowler before you make that decision. They are really fun to drive!
