  1. Well I drove it from Des Plaines up to Libertyville for breakfast. On the way back I stretched it out a bit on 294.
  2. Yesterday was a nice enough day that I awakened my 90 from its slumber since last November. I drove it over to get some fresh gas and then took it for about a 45 minute ride. It still puts a smile on my face. I had almost forgotten how many people look at it trying to figure out what kind of car it is. One night this week I will change the oil and filter over to some Mobil 1, and make the car smile.

    GAS $$$$$$$$

Gas is 3.56 here, and over 4.oo in Chicago. Soon the road salt will be off the streets and it will be time to park the Traverse and start driving the "fuel economy champ" Reatta to work again.
  4. Not a ticket, but back around 1970, driving home from the Grayslake IL spring car show in a 37 120 convertible sedan, I raced a 39 Buick coupe out of the tollbooth on 294 southbound. We ran pretty close together until about 65, when the Packard started to pull away from the Buick. At about 80 the Buick backed off, but I was not satisfied until the speedometer read 100. Who knows how accurate it was, but I was 19 and had a big grin on my face. These days I top out at about 75 in my daily driver.
  5. My 90 gives me 19mpg around town and 27-28 on the highway under normal driving conditions. More spirited acceleration can reduce those numbers.
  6. I have had good success using Liquid Wrench, and stud removers from a set from Snap On.
  7. Denman is out of business, so be aware that there will be no support if you have a problem with them. The old Denmans were fine tires, but they were making tires in Mexico and China before they went under.
  8. Hi, I am looking for a 37 Packard 120 coupe. An older restoration or driver is fine. Not looking to do a full restoration at this time. I am in Chicagoland, and will travel for the right car. What do you have? Thanks! Use PM to contact me please.
  9. Get a copy of DiskWarrior 4 by Alsoft for the future. It will act as a startup disk and safely diagnose and repair your corrupted files or directory. It is safe and powerful, and most likely would have saved you from having to mess with the fools at Worst Buy. Start backing your files up either to an external drive or an online source.
  10. Packard was made by Packard. They would not have used Cadillac headlights. Yours are most likely for a Cadillac of that era.
  11. Looking for a 37 Packard 120 coupe to drive. Older restoration or driver quality car is what I want. What do you have? Located in the Midwest but will travel for the right car.
  12. Welcome RD. If the Riv in the street behind your Reatta is yours, have you thought about trying the Riv finned aluminums on the Reatta just for grins?
  13. They look to be well made and are a good idea! Usually if I have a magazine, or a map, or travel brochure of the rear shelf behind the seats, they will slide down behind the seats. It would be interesting to how the wood would look stained to match the interior color.
  14. Hi, the top window brake light on my 90 coupe works just fine as always. The brake lights in the panel of rear lights do not work at all. The turn signals and 4 way flashers work fine. tail lights work fine. I do not see any bad fuses, and assume that the brake light switch should be OK because the rear window brake light works. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  15. Every day I look at the Reattas for sale on Craigslist. Some of the nicer cars are still an incredible bargain in comparison with some other collector cars. I have not yet noticed an upward pricing trend, and see some ads repeated several times with lower prices. Nice cars like the Reatta seem like they should sell for more. But in a way I am glad that they dont as the current price level lets new collectors get involved with a fun and unusual car.
  16. For anyone using one of these, the key to happiness it that when you think that it is well anchored, anchor some more. I had one anchored with steel rebar tie wire into concrete anchors on the driveway, and in a brick wall, and tied to chain link fence posts. During a nasty winter storm, the wind got under it, stretched the tie wire, and ruined the paint on my 68 Charger. I will not use one of these units again. It is cheaper to pay garage rent, than to mess with the damage that can occur with one of these. Never again. Not even if you gave it to me for free.
  17. The Wildcat concept looks like great fun to drive. When you take it to the DognSuds or SuperDawg style drive in where do they put your food tray? Love that bubble top.

So how soon after this HyWire hits the streets, will we see the Reatta body on one?
  19. 57 Chevy Cameo 03 Chevy SSR Lincoln Blackwood 07 Chevy Silverado Ext Cab 54 Chevy 3100 Paint em all black.
  20. 68 Shelby GT500KR convertible in 1978. I thought that it was getting too old. Highland Green, Black top and interior.
  21. Your Reatta now looks great. I really like the wheels too.
  22. We have had many interesting choices here with a lot of variety. To those who have talked about the Chrysler Turbine car, I got to ride in one when I was 12. Chrysler also built some turbine car test mule cars using 62 a Dodge body. My uncle was a Chrysler / Dodge dealer, and my dad had one to drive for about a week. I will always remember the sound it made, way cool, like no other car. For those in the Midwest, there was a Chrysler Turbine car in the Henry Ford Museum at Greenfield Village for a long time. One of these would have been on my list, but they are virtually unobtainable by the common man. I also like a lot of the choices made for this thread that you can tell are cars that people really liked, not just status symbols.
  23. You have your Reatta and have room and finances available for 4 more cars. Which 4 cars will you surround your Reatta with. These are mine. A purple Plymouth Prowler. An Auburn Boattail Speedster. A 54 Corvette with a bubble top. Last is a 66 Dodge Charger fastback. OK the space and the finances are optional, just pick 4. Your choices please......
  24. You will always hear more about the few cars with problems than the many cars without problems. Most people just do not post to talk about their Reatta being problem free. I have driven my 90 for a year with no real issues to speak of.Remember that these cars are 20 years old.
