  1. The 04 and newer Rendezvous have been pretty good. If I were buying one it would be GM certified. It has to be a good one to be certified.
  2. Your Buick is indeed a very nice looking car. But from the picture it looks more like an older restoration, than original paint. Before hiring out any machine polishing on your paint, you might locate some Liquid Glass auto polish and apply and finish by hand in the shade. I started using this product on early 50's cars in the mid 60's. It bonds with the paint and forms a deeper gloss with each application. Look for their website. A modern alternative would be Meguiars Liquid Gold. Again apply in the shade. It also gets deeper with each application. You should be able to do this by hand yourself. Make it shine!
  3. It looks like a 51 Buick Super Riviera 2 door hardtop to me. If the photo were bigger and clearer it would be easier to tell.
  4. The 39 Buick wheels are 16" not 15". Hope this helps.
  5. Hi Bud; what engine and how many miles does your Sebring have? You need to read the computer codes in order to properly diagnose the cause of your problems. You can borrow a code reader from Autozone. Many of the Sebrings are Mitsubishi powered. As they age 2 well known culprits are the crankshaft position sensor and the mass air flow sensor. Often the car will run fine and then just quit when the crank sensor goes bad. Usually it will run rough at higher RPM when the mass airflow sensor goes bad. The crank sensor costs about a hundred bucks and is a pain to install. It might be work paying a good independent shop to diagnose the problem, usually about a 1 hour labor charge. Stay away from the Chrysler dealer service though. Another thought, have you tried the forums at Allpar.com? Lots of Mopar knowledge there. Good luck. Bob
  6. GM allows weasels like this to represent them and they wonder why they are losing market share. I would go higher up the food chain at GM.

    My Father

I have honored your request. Yes it still really works. When he gets out of the hospital take him for a ride in your coolest old car and tell him about what he has meant to you while you grew up.
  8. The light yellow was nice, especially with redline tires on the sport wheels. I have forgotten the official name for the color. It is like the light yellow on 65 Corvettes and Corvairs though.
  9. That bog is just "quadrajet bog" more than likely. Chances are that the fuel pump is not the culprit. First check the timing. 73 was towards the beginning of EPA restrictions, and your 455 is a somewhat detuned version of the real deal. Most of the time it will run better if advanced slightly from the factory spec. Next check your vacuum lines. Next step would be to check for carb adjustment. Are you running premium fuel? The 73 was a great highway car, and with stock exhaust if you drop it down into passing gear at about 60-65 it sounds really good.
  10. Are the 79-85 Riviera model cars eligible to be shown? They are still kind of new, but they are such nice cars, both to look at and to drive. You just don't see or hear much about them. They were styled the best of all the Rivieras to my taste. Perhaps I am trying to talk myself into looking for a nice clean original now.
  11. There is some really cool stuff here. Hours of entertainment Thanks!
  12. Looking for a nice 37 120 to drive. A coupe would be nice. A convertible sedan would be very nice. I am willing to travel for the right car. QTABobH@aol.com
  13. 2 dr coupe, I am the 2nd owner. 44000 original miles. Olds 260 V8 Cream exterior with saddle cloth bench seat interior. rally wheels. It will make a very nice car with not much work. Rear bumper sags on right side. Headliner sags. Needs shocks. Tires are old. Steering wheel plastic is brittle and falling off. 1 small dent in right rear. minor rust. located in Chicago suburbs. Can e-mail a picture, dont know how to post 1 here. I just bought a beautiful 50th anniversary 88 and need the room. $1250 firm qtabobh@aol.com
  14. Besides the older Buicks, the Lucerne is the first Buick that has caught my eye since the last of the Rivieras. I am looking at the base CX model with my favorite 3.8 V6 engine. If any of you have bought or driven one, how satisfied with the car are you? I want a bench seat for sure. Dont think that I need the CXL or CXS to be happy. And definitely no more moon roof with all the extra wind noise that they bring with them. Sagemist or Silver? Thanks!
  15. Hey Lamar, Have you seen the March 06 issue of Hemmings Classic Car? Every month they feature an automotive artist. This month their artist has a nice painting of a pair of 54's sitting side by side, a blue one and a yellow one. Seems like you should have a copy of this one. Bob H
  16. I have had 3 cars with the 3.8. The first a new 85 Park Ave got 32mpg highway until it was turned into a convertible by an errant left turning semi from the right lane. The 2nd, a 90 Riviera got 33 hwy. The 3rd, a 93 regal 32mpg, 60000 100% trouble free miles and is probably good for at least 200000. GM is in an unenviable financial position at the moment and should be using the 3.8 in many more cars like the 06 Impala and touting its longevity and economy. They really need some "car guys" in place of the current chairman. Instead of being innovative they kill off their best vehicles and products. What a way to run a business! Screw the automotive press! GM needs real leadership right now.
  17. Jerry your Electra looks very nice, but I am leaning towards black, teal mist, willow mist, and burgundy as first color preferences. Thanks.
  18. The Special, Century, and Skylark shared the same dash. The Super and the Roadmaster shared a dash with a horizontal speedometer. The Special, Century, and Skylark dash had a round speedometer.
  19. Looking for a nice 62 Electra Convt. to drive. Nice original or older restoration is fine. Not looking for a top show car. I want to drive it. But not a beater either. I am in Northern Illinois and will travel for the right car. Please, no red ones, (already have a red car). Thanks! Contact qtabobh@aol.com
  20. There should really be a class action lawsuit filed against GM for it's continued use of Dexcool. If you have Dexcool in any out of warranty GM car or truck flush and switch back to green antifreeze. If you dont it will just cost you money. This stuff eats intake manifold gaskets! GM is fully aware of the problems caused by Dexcool, just not honorable enough admit to the problem and to recall all the Dexcooled vehicles and replace with the proper coolant.
  21. The 90-93 Riviera finned aluminum wheels are some of my favorites. I have been wondering how they would look on a Reatta and if they would fit properly. Has anyone here tried this or seen this? Thanks!
