  3. No idea though on a 34 they have the bottom frame-at leastthe one I saw in person. I've never seen a 32 coupe roadster in person so I was trying to figure out what the windshield looked like. It was hard to tell but on many photos it appeared to me that the frame had no bottom. Well that saves me from buying a new windshield. Next winter I'll probably will just replate and replace the glass as I have a small amount of delamination occuring at the bottom.
  4. I got a hold of NC Industries finally. Anyway they say their 902-905 coupe roadster patterns show only a 3 sided frame. The bottom edge glass is bare glass. That is what I have on my 903 Coupe Roadster. I was assuming that I was missing the bottom edge of the frame. Can someone confirm that on a 903 Coupe roadster the windshield frame consist of only a three side frame (top and two sides).
  5. I've had two interesting visits to my garage. I do have a lift in it. So a guy comes in a points ta the lift and say "what do you use that for"? Another guy came by and ask if he could bring his car to me as he needed some work done on it. If he only knew my mechanical skills
  6. Can't afford it now so will you take jsut the steering wheel in trade. Just placed an order for two synchros for my 32 transmission.
  7. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: trimacar</div><div class="ubbcode-body">. I am sure Shawn is a nice guy, but why pay to list it on Ebay and a website when you can do it yourself? And I have to chuckle any time I see "easy restoration" in a listing (as is stated for the 902 on Ebay). </div></div> Shawn just called me today and left a VM. He had my number when I was looking for a Packard about 4 years ago. I was thinking about calling him back and offering 5K plus a steering wheel for the 902 Coupe Roadster:D

Needed money to pay taxes He still invesitagting synchros as I have trouble with 3rd gear. Are these available? He did give the engine a 5 thumbs up bill of health after adjusting the valves. Said the engine quiet like a Packard should be with a slight sweet rumble from the tailpipe befitting a coupe roadster. He did say the vibration I was complaining about was normal for those cars and I was too sensitive to modern cars. Not sure if I agree with that diagnosis.
  9. Rick, So is your submarine flotilla cruising White Rock Lake? I can imagine seeing a submarine surface on a lake might prompt some calls to Homeland Security especialy if you build them as realistic as I have seen of your preious work:D
  10. Steve, That was a long tour of the first tour of the season. Hopefully all made it safely. I finally got into the local Classic Car Mechanic. I want him to look at the transmission. It was one of the weak points when I bought the car, but hopefully he can get it sorted out with his transmission shop. It's usable but not what it should be. He's a busy guy and I've been trying to get in to his place since November. Though like a typical old car craftsman, long term customers and other things get inserted in front of your promised date of service.

The first three years of Minnesota plates are worth in the neighborhood of $1,500 each in good condition. I believe 1912 was the first year for Oregon.
  12. I picked up a OD regulator at a swap meet today. Unfortunately looking the pictures in the parts book, it looks like its for the 700 series. The 900 series regulator has a fuse on the unit. If anyone needs one, PM me. I'll let you have it for what I paid for it plus shipping. Don't know if it works but it looks like a real clean unit. Otherwise it's going on E-Bay.
  13. Before you start mounting them in your garage, if you have enough of them, it could pay for a new car. Single restored ones are going for $100 or more. I know 1912 Oregon plate are going for $400 restored.
  14. I have received word that Bob Turnquist has passed away at his home. No other details than this.
  15. I wish the PDX Swap meet had the same pre-war presence as Hershey. However I'll be there. Forecast is calling for sun on both Friday and Sat with beer both days.
  16. Congrats on your solving the mystery. Always like a good mystery.

Kev, Good input. I usually don't scan as PDFs but stay with JPGs. I think JPGs and PDFs are fine. I just don't need another plug-in and file format
  18. I had to laugh at this Ebay auction of 32 902 Packard. It was described as a older quality restoration. Not sure how the buyer determine quality expecialy looking at the seats, door panels and the incirrected painted dash with runs. He also think sidewalls with cracks are OK for this car since it won't go that fast. How the buy me price is not too outrageous. I suspect it might go for around 20K

They both work the same, the difference is that when an item is scanned the djvu file requires alot less of disc space when you store the image file. than does pdf many of these books ie: parts books are over 350 pages. Websites are charged by how much disc space they use. On the "The Packard Library site it shows the plyg in that is needed . here is a link DJVU plugin </div></div> I've have hosting with Lunar Pages who has no storage limit. I thought it very unusual to have a different storage format than PDF. I believe JPGs would take a lot less space for scanned items.

Me thinks the topic has run it's course
  21. On another forum he mentioned he got the tail lights to work by replacing the bulbs. So maybe as simple as burnt out bulbs in the headlights?
  22. Seems like the 34 would be different as it has 5 positions vs 4 on the 32 but the design basics ar ethe same. I do have an extra 32 switch, but keeping it for a spare as it is rare as hen's teeth. I was looking at the wiring diagram and couldn't figure a scenario where the single light would work, but not the other nodes but looking at the light switch is a place I would start.
  23. Well turns out we apparently had screwed up the carb on the way to fixing the problem. After I got everything back together, all I could get was a backfire. I know everyone was saying your distributor 180 dgrees out. But I double checked everything. Even went as far as laid out all of the spargplugs on the block and slowly handcranked the engine to observe the spark and timing withthe valves. Everything seem correct. In fact one backfire caught some gas on fire on the floor that had dripped from the flooded carb. Can you say excitement? Anyway I put on a carb that someone had sent me. The car started right up. So I sent my carb to him about three weeks and just got back today. The car starts. So now I need to wait for dry weather to push the car onto the driveway to adjust things as the tail pipe is stick in the garage the wrong way

I have called and email him but I haven't heard back.
  25. Michael, I'll pass on your offer. Ken
